Exactly. There are non licensed folks who just two years ago were making $14 an hour, and were bumped up to $22/hour with the new start rate for their market…..and now this year they’re making $26/hr, still not certified. Still not licensed. That’s a $12/hour increase in two years. Nearly 100%! But nobody can seem to figure out where inflation is coming from.

No. This is all about the ESG World Economic Forum equity bs.

Bringing the underachievers up to par with those who have actually achieved something. Pay is No longer based on merit.

Try to stay up to date. These folks are not referring to the store wide pay increase that happened a few months ago.

These folks are referring to a recent pay change for EVERY optical role EXCEPT the VCMs that occurred a couple of weeks ago.

There are markets in some states where the starting rate for an optical associate with no optical or even Walmart experience whatsoever has been raised to $28/hour.

This makes three pay changes in the dept that have occurred in the last two years where the VCM has been left out. So, excuse them for the cynicism, but when a role is skipped that much for raises, what else can you expect?

To the post below, many license states are starting at $30 for non license, no permit, nothing. The. You can get another $2.50 in credits. It’s crazy and unfair for unlicensed states.

The VCM role is a joke and .50 more than the starting rate to be responsible for optical is a joke too.

There are no changes coming to Optical. The big pay increase was like everything else. A joke. They raised the starting pay to $15 for new hires. Only those below that got a raise. They are not changing the role to team lead. Again, just someone trying to start rumors hoping to get everyone all excited. Those who have been around long enough understand that this role is never going to be thought of as an important role.

Does anyone know anything about this? I’m going to send them a message.

The VCM position has really gone downhill since they switched it to hourly, made our jobs more difficult and worse communication.

How much are nonlicensed vcms making?

They NEVER give anything without taking something of equal or greater value.

VCM is toast.

Florida Licensed VCM - $38 an hour with 30 + years with Walmart. Let's see how this regional coach roles role out, it will be as effective as when Pharmacy took over Vision.

I left company about 2 years ago. Was a licensed VCM in Tennessee and was making 35.10 an hour. Have they confirmed doing away with VCM's? I have quite a few friends still in the position and none of them have said anything about it. There is life outside of walmart though if you want to start over. Good luck guys and gals.

What’s the HW Team Lead application process? SURELY it doesn’t warrant a pay raise for licensed VCMs who may take the role.

They don’t want former VCMs to take the role.

I’m a Vcm 37.50, I can’t imagine doing the same thing for less in a state that isn’t licensed.

Good! I cannot WAIT to see the shitshow that becomes LOLOL! And they think demoted VCMs will still do the admin work. 😂😂😂

They’re gonna F everyone out of their bonus mid year. Figures.

What an abject disaster. Penny wise and pound foolish. As always.

Licensed managers - let's reveal what we are making. See unfair and cr-ppy some of my friends have been treated. I always laughed at the idea of confidentiality of pay, so you get ripped off!

Me - Licensed Dual in Position 2 Years, $34 an hour.

Vision can still unionize and should, try to get your market directors to tell you how much profit vision made for the company last year. They probably won’t but it’s a lot of money to the bottom line, most of profit is made in the non licensed states too. Walmart obviously doesn’t want to share profits with their employees, my share taken away.

Vision is the easiest department to unionize, most offices have 2-3 employees, just need 30% to sign a petition to unionize. I’m going to call unions near me, I’ve never done this before but it’s clear Walmart doesn’t care about us we just make it so David retinuer or however you spell his name looks good.

Its too late now, but vision should have unionized years ago.

The specifics of the bonus (bone us?) structure STILL in MID JUNE has not been released. Another massive red flag.

The VCM’s haven’t received ANY incentives since going hourly. How many increases have Pharmacists and Assistants received over the last several years??? SEVERAL ! And this joke of a raise? New hires were the only ones to receive it. The bonus structure is a joke. The BEST thing a VCM can hope for is a severance package.

Damn right they’re on the way out. What else can anyone reasonably expect, when that role is treated so poorly. And you know what? They will get what they deserve when they get rid of the role. An utter dumpster fire. They think VCMs “don’t do anything” because everyone from Div1 that observes them, makes that presumption based on the fact that they’re not slinging pallets all day.

The fact that sales plans aren’t even available til two weeks into each month is a gigantic red flag.

That’s why they gave the raises to everyone else first. Enticement to stay and keep the place afloat when they sh----n the VCMs.

Yep, the VCM's have been overlooked for 2 years now as our associates have been given raises. In a market where a non LDO asaociate starts at $21-22 and hour and the licensed VCM starts at $30-32, where is the incentive to stay a VCM? And what about the so called new training position? There are 2 per region. Makes me think they will dissolve our positions soon. Thanks walmart again for giving it to us up the A@@ again. We got screwed during Covid and we are really getting screwed now.

VCMs did not receive any compensation change. My guess is they are on their way out. This will be a disaster.

Not every optician received a pay increase. Especially long-term employees.
