Thread regarding DIRECTV layoffs

DISH chop up this company already

Morale is low. Everybody is awaiting DISH acquisition and chopping up before figuring out their next move.

This company is doomed. It is overpriced for what it offers and people are realizing they can get the content at a reduced price.

Management is a bunch of people that are either WASPs or people that have sacrificed their lives (aka meeting a significant other or having a family) and won't figure out that the juice wasn't worth the squeeze until after it's too late.

I have heard that too. Don't complain and take it up the rear because you should be grateful for the opportunity. That is one way to ensure true talent leaves. They let go of the brains behind the company and left the ones that talk a good game but yield zero results. They talk for hours and complain all day and act busy and that seems to move them up the chain. However, nobody should be working more than 5 hours a day the way AT&T imprinted their silo'd work ethic onto DirecTV.

I can tell you personally that A LOT...and I mean A LOT of talent that remains are not the brightest light bulbs in the pack. There are A LOT of followers with no leaders and that causes confusion and I have had to spend hours and hours and hours trying to get simple answers.

Several W2 corrections?? Multiple paycheck errors? Hmmmm...seems like the basics are falling through the cracks.

My wife worked for Dish and was let go in the same fashion that it sounds like DirecTV does. She showed up and was let go with her severance package to walk out with. Then her call center was closed the next month. I'm not sure about DTV right now but DISH is bleeding customers. Old technology is done. I compare Satellite TV to poloroid cameras. And that is all that needs to be said about that comparison.

Come on everone. DirecTV, Dish and every other traditional cable company is on the way out. Dish buying anything out side of their service now is just a move to save a bit more time.

Satellite and Cable are end of life. None of the above are a part of the future. So please don't torture yourselves thinking they have a chance. They are all too expensive, clunky and infrastructure (Satellites) will not be replaced to support.

So yes. Leave now if you can. There is no future. it is just a part of the business cycle. And it does not matter how you are treated because everyone is treated that way. Not just you poor millennials that believe the Unions would keep you employed for a 100 years.

DISH needs to end the limbo already. People are just trying to ride out their days or until they can land something better. Why give 100% for a company that doesn't care about you? I've seen the best talent let go but keeping the unintelligent but personable management?

that's what i hear. everybody is busy applying for new jobs and scrambling for their next step. or, they have enough to ride out the wave. they are threatened to not complain and just accept the additional work they are given because they got rid of the real talent
