Thread regarding Optum layoffs

Your reason(s) to stay and stick around?

What factors contribute to your decision to stay with the company instead of seeking other opportunities?

  1. Stability: Despite the frequent layoffs, the company offers a level of stability that is hard to find elsewhere. This stability provides a sense of security, especially if you have financial obligations or limited job prospects in your field.
  1. Benefits and Compensation: The company provides competitive compensation and comprehensive benefits that are challenging to find in other organizations. These factors may outweigh the negative aspects of the toxic environment for some individuals.
  1. Career Progression: Despite the toxicity, the company offers opportunities for growth and advancement. Staying could allow you to enhance your skills, gain valuable experience, and potentially move up the career ladder.
  1. Personal Circumstances: Various personal circumstances, such as location or family commitments, might restrict your ability to switch jobs easily. In such cases, temporarily staying at the toxic company could be a practical decision until you have the opportunity to explore other options.

Abuse talk …

  1. Stability - though i verbally abuse you daily and threaten to leave you. Aren’t you glad I provide a stable home for me to threaten to leave you in.
  1. Benefits and Compensation - I work and provide you all the comforts in the world. Then you ask for more than 1% raise, want to work from home to spend more time with family and expect me not to to take an $20 million bonus. You ungrateful … 👋🏼 🧳
  1. Career Progression - It’s not my fault I forced you to clean the legacy system and your skills are not up to date. I needed you and now … can’t believe you trusted me. How stupid are you 😈
  1. Personal Circumstances - Where are you going to go … India, Philippines, etc. HA HA HA. There are no jobs. You are stuck with me 👹

I agree about the negativity, it is tiresome, its been this way for a year at least.. I come here to see if there are any layoffs not to bash the decisions of the clueless corporation. It's corporation thought and decision making 101.
Don't care about losing massive amounts of productivity with every layoff and org change. It's a numbers game. We will make it up in the next quarter. However, they are missing one metric in their model. Change fatigue. Too many reorgs and too much change. It takes longer and longer to recover. I know I myself am tired of it all and am looking for some stable period but it doesn't seem to ever occur. Leaving would just be more change and that itself seems risky right now. How do I know the next place isn't just as bad? So , I would like to add a missing positive to the list, at least you know tomorrow could be your last day, it should not be a surprise. The surprise is that you still have a job each day, like a little Christmas gift each day you don't have a unexpected meeting added to your calendar early in the day.

Ahh quit whining. You guys bash the company, but continue to cash the pay check. If the company is so bad and you hate it, then stop prost---ting yourself and find a better job. Either that or stop complaining.

I quit a few years ago. I will continue to bash this company and its sh!t management whenever the f-ck I feel like it.

... F Optum Management are lying sacks of sh!te.

What did I say that was a lie, genius?

The top heavy, knee jerk mismanagement style used by many if not most IT managers is widespread and the reason the cost of business is so high.

No sh!t, sherlock.

It certainly isn’t the merit increases or meager health benefits that drive the cost of labor.

Who TF said it was? I used that as a foil to "Southern Coach"'s buzzword-filled brain droppings.

Although management seems to always “earn” a significant annual bonus. How about some honesty for a change!

You want honesty, a$$hole? Ok.. Optum IT management is worthless. They're a bunch of a$$-covering clowns the lie through their teeth and cover their butts to get that next promotion to Director, Sr. Director, or whatever. The engineers that work under them are worked like dogs to unreasonable timelines and unbaked ideas pushed down from upper management as they follow tech buzzwords to make it seem like they're actually doing something other than standing around tossing their boss' salad.

How about some godda-n reading comprehension for a change?

Listen up, everyone! I've led countless teams to victory, and it's my winning mindset that brought me here today. There's no room for second place or participation prizes. We're playing in the big leagues, and not everyone can handle it.

Translation: I know how to take all the credit for my underlings' work and throw my opponents under the bus. I'm going to make a baseball reference to emphasize the supposed 'grit' I possess that "got me here".

Sure, some people didn't like the tough decisions I made. But being at the top means I reap the best rewards, awards, and respect that others envy. If you're content with sitting on the bench, that's your choice. But if you're strong and committed, you'll be the one taking home the trophy.

Translation: I'm a total a$$hole and proud of it. I make a ton of money because I spend all my time self-promoting. If you work 12, 14, or 16 hours a day under me, you'll be rewarded with a meager 1.5% raise, but I'll make it sound really good in an attempt to fool you in thinking it's a handsome merit increase.

Watch closely as I make it happen. I have the power and influence to turn dreams into reality. Follow my lead, and you'll experience success like never before. Together, we'll achieve greatness. Believe in yourself, embrace the challenge, and witness the magic of victory. Let's go!

Translation: I'm so full of bullsh!t, I even believe the cr@p that's coming out of my mouth!

Let me guess, you used to sell Amway products, right?

If we don't raise the bar on performance and competence within our company, we'll remain stagnant in terms of achievement and settle for mediocrity.

I agree. 70% of your managers on all levels are complete bafoons and a drain on the company. That number goes a lot higher when you get into executive paygrades.

Individuals who complain excessively and have been let go didn't meet the lofty standards we have established.

Translation: We don't like change. Conform to the good ole boys network and start licking boots or be terminated.

Numerous employees have been under the management of lenient supervisors who allowed them to slack off and evade responsibility.

Got any numbers or figures on that statement to back it up? ... No? Oh, of course you don't. Corporate answers to no one.

The implemented changes are crucial, and we will keep parting ways with underperformers until we attain a remarkable level of excellence and productivity. Our purpose is to guide you towards success.

Cool. When is Witty slated to get the boot? Next quarter, I would assume by your bold, assertive statement about performance.

Eat a bowl of brown, troll. No one here is buying your cr@p.

Ref: HR trolls- there have been numerous posts over the weekend from these “trolls” -perhaps outside so called PR paid consultants trying to be wolfs under cloak to do damage control here? Anything for $$!!

Look at the latest proxy who were the execs first exercised their stock options between September - December 2022? Top “colonial” and so called “head” of legal and HR of this org. They only in this org for personal gain ($$) and contributed nothing!!

The HR trolls are here, how pathetic! I have worked for several large corporations and never seen such an incompetent HR department. Hopefully everyone knows they exist to protect the interests of the company and to help with staffing. But this group has allowed cronyism to move people into management who demonstrate very little management dimensions and end up violating the rights of their reports. Short of being able to unionize, let’s rise up and fight against offshoring or exempt employee exploitation, engage an attorney if there is any question how you have been treated!

However, at the end of the day a corporation exists to serve and satisfy stakeholders - those who make investments into our company. If they are not happy, none of us should be. And thus, when we fail, we adjust until they are happy again.

To “guide you to success” - spend your energy to guide the execs to be less greedy using RIFs to show artificial growth to boost stock values. Picketed more stock options and bonuses.
Forced middle management to downgrade staff with 5 performance rating for long tenure just because they had higher salary grade before cut them as part of RIFs. This is not an act of “guiding you to success” it’s pure evil!

How low can you stoop to hide behind this forum to do PR for this org? It showed the lack of integrity and ethics.

“justifiable elimination” shamelessly placing the blames on staff instead of taking ownership as leaders the lack of strategic management oversight and incompetent leadership .. now GTH of this forum to pester your other “colonies”..
