Thread regarding 3M layoffs

Right Management Experience?

Any of the laid off folks having a decent experience with Right Management and I just got stuck with a dud for a coach? Can you recommend your coach if so so I can switch to a better one? I'm trying to have a good attitude about this, but it has been such a bust so far.

Can we request a new coach to be assigned if we don’t like the one assigned to us? I’ve met with her and it is like she isn’t even listening to what I’m telling her. Anytime I ask her a question, all she does is refer me to a video or upcoming live event. At this point, I’m not even sure what role my coach is supposed to provide.

Could you share the name of your coach so I can request a better one? Mine (both "regular" and "resume") are useless.

The registration information for RM is contained in your big separation package email with a dozen documents. It's the Request for Outplacement Services form, and you email the completed form to HR. Note that you have to request enrollment no later than one month from your separation so for those in the first wave get it sent in before June 30th.

HR f@cked my RM engagement up and never got any contact from them despite trying. Don’t let them off the hook. Thankfully didn’t end up needing their services.

Does anyone have the link for this service?

My experience has been excellent so far and I highly recommend RM even if you have issues w/ your coach as there is a ton of excellent modules available on demand.

I've had 2 sessions w/ my coach, She accurately described herself as a "QB coach" & has guided me to additional coaches (resume and branding so far). She's been exceptionally responsive and follows up with the other coaches to make sure they're delivering as well.

Ask your coach about their "warm introduction/employer connection" network. RM has connections with over 1,000 major employers, so if you find a job you want to apply for, bring it to their attention. They can help get your resume past the first level of AI bots and into the hands of an actual person.

Another thing: just because your coaching sessions end after a defined number of weeks, you will still have access to the RM website and content. I know a former colleague who was eliminated last September and she is still utilizing the service.

I recommend calling the help desk for coaching if you have an urgent questions. They are available weekdays and weekends. They give great advice!

My coach was never available when I had time sensitive questions but she always referred me to that help desk.

I enjoyed working with my resume coach and she got back to me pretty quickly.

Another note - from what I recall the process was:
2 days for 3M to get you on RM’s radar
Then RM reaches out to you to get your basic info etc
Couple of days later, you will get an email/invite etc with your actual resume coach. Then you meet with them weekly.

Once you get in their system, use the resume tool to work through your resume ASAP. Then once you hit a wall with that, request ac resume coach. That again takes a couple of days to be assigned.

You’ll get impatient, but trust the process.

I had a great experience with both my career coach and my resume coach. However, I know not everyone has the same experience. My guess is right now, the market is so flooded that they are spread very thin vs when I worked with them last fall.

I signed up last week and requested a coach meeting for this week and haven’t even gotten a meeting setup yet. Frustrating.
