Thread regarding Alphabet Inc. (Google) layoffs

For how long is Google interview good for?

I went through total of 6 interviews. I got an offer in December which turned out to be rescinded due to restructuring.

Now a recruiter tells me a position is available, but I will have to start process from scratch inuding hiring committee.

Is this correct that a positive interview is acceptable only for 6 months?

This is the new process across many companies. If you still need a job or you want to work at Google you have to dedicate yourself to the process regardless of what is asked. Good luck!

Google strings along candidates and gaslights them with no feedback.

Sorry for your experience. Many companies including Alphabet had major layoffs last year or this year. Some of your recruiters and/or managers from 6 months ago may not be with the company anymore. Do what your recruiter says. The bar is high at Google, but so is the compensation. I had a very similar situation with AWS recently - close to an offer, then a few months of silence, then more of the same interviews.

Ideally since you've passed the technical interview, you'd just have to go through a behavioral interview and discuss pass experience, but Google and like companies are full of autistic individuals. Treat the rescinding as a sign that you shouldn't work there.

You might be considered for a job on a different ladder or different level, in which case the prior round of interviews are out the window.

If this new role is on the same ladder and level that you interviewed for, your prior decision is good for at least six months. Up to a year in some circumstances.
