Thread regarding Citrix Systems Inc. layoffs

What is TK thinking?

Per public online sources, it’s estimated that TK earned over $50mn working at Broadcom. He probably has over $100mn, so it’s perplexing why someone would throw away such a lucrative pay package, lifestyle and the possibility of running a much larger company (VMware) than what he is doing now, at such a big pay cut. Was he unhappy about something? Is being CEO that important when he’s become a pawn of PE firms? Was he tricked by PE and what does this tell us about his judgement? Maybe he thinks he has more autonomy now but it doesn’t seem like things are going as originally laid out. What rationale does he use to comfort and excuse himself? Has he realized his mistake? Is it too late but he has no other option? Has he considered walking away? Has his ego stopped him from quitting? At what point will his ruined reputation change his behavior? Perhaps he’s already past the breaking point and see’s no other option but to double down on his valiant effort to become a heroic CEO so he can lead other companies? Does he have some secret ambition to make his own PE firm after this failed experiment? Maybe he gambled all his earnings away and is stuck here like the rest of us? I hear that he doesn’t sleep. Has that driven him mad? Maybe we should pity him…

Does anyone pity him?

He’s certainly a successful turnaround CEO and paragon of the PE world, turning a functional remote work business into an in office hellscape that would make any PE owner blush with it’s high management fees at such low returns. Krause may be a genius. By the time CSG is bankrupt and long gone, only he will be left to tell the tales of the rarified experiences and lessons learned. The more mistakes the better for his future. Nobody will care about the absurd policies or lives ruined, only the returns on investment.

It's very likely that TK was not going to get what he wanted out of the VMW acquisition. Wasn't he named CEPO soon after that announcement? Also, given his background in finance it is very likely his long term goal is to be a PE bigwig. He's still very young so I am sure he wants to be a successful turnaround CEO before making the PE move

Perhaps Krause grew tired of being in the shadow of Hock Tan. That said, both men are pitiful examples of what truly matters in life. Who in their right mind would want to compete for the title of "most hated" person in today's tech company leadership?

Money can’t buy you power, that is what the psychotic c-level folks crave after buying everything you can possibly want.

Enjoy the dysfunctional environment. Pay packages for the C-suite are out of control across the board. Do you know Hock Tan is frequently the higher paid CEO in the world? TK will aspire to do the same and follow his Shaolin Master, just give him time. He will break your back to get there.

Neptune… after Orbit. I wonder if the spaceshit made it to outer space or plunged into the ocean… either way there’s no oxygen to survive. What great code names!
