Thread regarding 3M layoffs

Why Mike Roman is still the CEO of 3M ?

Please help me to understand...

Indeed, the market valuation of 3M decrease by -60% in the last 5 years. Mike Roman and the board team are still in the head of the company.
In additional to that, his salary increased by +50% in 5 years from $10M to $15M (excluded bonus).

The fact is if I do not perform well, my manager will give me a rating of 1/3. And if I do not improve the next year I am out of the company. In addition to that my salary is not improving by +50% in the last 5 years.

So why 3M still have Mike Roman and the same board at the head of the company despite poor results ???

Thanks for your feedback which should help me to understand better the situation.

When the ceo is chair of the board, there is no separation of power. This is intentional and speaks to the corruption of 3Ms leadership and how the derelict board is complicit. Lets end this venting with a final realization that we don’t matter till we raise our voices publicly. I don’t think that will happen. So we need to accept the reality and humiliation we are suffering, very unfortunately. Should our leaders be ashamed? Yes. Are they? No.

It is called Old Boys Network in some cultures, in some places they call it Nepotism !

Choose whatever term you like. That is the answer to your query.

We want to keep the stock price tanking so we can buy more at the trough and sell high.

Way to go on giving Monish an exceptional rating which is like endorsing bad behavior.

As mentioned by a few others here, the Board clearly sees the path forward for 3M is a major break-up into perhaps 5 smaller companies. Roman is being held up as a figurehead until they can find the person to break it up.

Vale was the successor for remain-co and would have been the guy making smaller rocks out of one woeful big rock but he got "distracted" by the underworld of woodbury parlors.

Now, I suspect the Board is looking for an outsider they can pay to do the machete work.

Very sad to see what was once one of the greatest companies and best places to work become a sausage grinder.
