Hot mess, for sure. The execs responsible for bringing in all the failed shiny hotshot leaders from outside (who either bolt themselves or get booted after a couple years) need to be the first ones laid off/fired...or, in the parlance of our times, "make the decision to leave the company." What's sad is being laid-off from NM might just be the best thing that could happen to me. A real career-defining moment. Bring it!?

Current leaders, take note:
Start building from within your 'deep, deep benches,' dump the deadweight selfie/stuffed animal types. You're making a lot of good, hard-working people dread working at NM.

Stealth layoffs are happening, and will be happening over the next 6 months, across most BU’s. Restructuring and severance expense has already been amply factored into the 2023 forecast by Finance. While NM is truly a backwards insular hot mess with crisis of leadership, take solace in the fact that the majority of companies in the Milwaukee region are laying off people as well. He hiring bo-m is over, and current economic conditions mean most companies, to include NM, will course correct in terms of FTEs.

Did the HR layoffs include DR? We can only hope...

Also just saw on LinkedIn the layoffs weren't limited to tech. HR got hit as well, mainly talent acquisition.

How many people got laid off? Is it Contractors or FTE?

ICAX has a big layoff planned. Offshoare will take over.

NM inflated titles to keep and cultivate talent so that they won’t leave because they can’t get the same role somewhere else. Assistant directors are not upper management and they are fine.

You can only call it a mass layoff if at least 50 people are laid off during a 30-day period. The 2017 layoffs got really bad corporate image issues and NM learned its lessons. Now it’s doing it in small batches over time.

Based on what I'm reading here, and having gone through similar layoffs myself at other places, it's likely NM is going to start practicing what one of my former employers called "agile-sized reductions". In other words, instead of laying off a few hundred people in one shot, they are going to do a few people here, a few people there... And it'll be billed a reorgs versus layoffs.

The problem is not limited to contractors. You can eliminate every single member of WIT and no one would even notice. There isn't one bit of talent in that group. WIT is like a modern day labor union that protects lazy and incompetent employees. The WIT leader is the biggest scam and fraud of all.

Take a hard look at contractors onshore and off. They are great at adding to staff making it seem NM needs more. Total scam. Too much contracting bloat. Protect LTE and lighten contractors staff.

NM needs to let go more upper level management. How many Assistant Directors do you need? They dont add any value but set up meetings about meetings. Lots of upper management fat to trim.

Layoffs in CDA as well. About 20-25 people. Mostly under Jeff P. Announced more as a re-org and did not explicitly announce it as layoffs.

Yes there were a bunch of layoffs in ICS, TCS, and EIRC (all under Tech org). I'm not sure it was distributed widely, but I saw the organizational announcement emails from each area.

While the comments here are valid I haven’t seen or heard anything regarding layoffs.

Speak only for yourself. You are not “we” and you don’t know what most of the people want. You freaked out, not “most of us.”

Really feel bad about all those people who got laid off. Not sure why we are hearing layoffs every 6 months. Just because we are fortune 90 doesn’t mean that we need to follow the rally of tech layoffs. What is the benefit of full time if it doesn’t provide you job security. Why did company hire so many people and keep reiterating the excuse “ we overhired”. NM is not service provider where things change drastically, we are just supporting 160 years of business model. This clearly shows the leadership failure in planning. On one side it is rolling down and simultaneously you see tens of positions being opened every day. Why are they so incompetent in moulding and directing the internal folks to the needs of the organization. If any of the leadership is reading this post please understand that you are ki-ling the happiness of your FTE. If this continues you will eventually loose sensible, talented, trust worthy employees and remain with people playing politics. Roses, sunshades, picnics cannot retain the talent. “ Actions speak louder” hope you understand it sooner than later. what is the count of total number of employees who are laid off???

You've been rage-posting for hours about a handful of people that do things on Slack that you don't like. Why are you even paying attention to those channels? I've got most of my obligatory channels muted and only really pay attention to DMs, team channels, and channels with my friends. I have no idea who you're even talking about because I've never even seen them and I spend a lot of time on Slack. Why are you seeking this out?

We come here to hear about potential layoffs and news that hasn't been released publicly yet. While your inflammatory posting may appeal to some, it makes most of us freaked out that there is someone that harbors this much hate and vitriol to their fellow coworkers. These are real people.

So what is your goal? Who is going to hear you? Are you expecting someone else to do something for you? Why haven't you gone to the board of trustees like you suggested? Are you here just to vent and humiliate them? Do you feel like your behavior here is somehow justified and any better than anything they do? How would you feel if your true identity was revealed and your family and kids saw what you wrote?

A bunch of women headed by SR who claim to “lift people up” by commenting on each other’s LinkedIn posts as if it’s their full time job. Funny that they mess up everything and still position them as leaders or ridiculously think they have imposter syndrome and need to be seen. Nobody want to see their annoying faces.

Not a day goes by where those 3 people don't occupy a massive amount space in your head. It's soooo weird.

The sad reality is that we'll lose a lot of good people in the process. Meanwhile, people like Selfie S, MZG and her husband are still employed doing nothing but playing on Slack and posting llama pictures all day.

DEI & WIT are for losers who are incompetent in delivering real work results and are living in their own bubbles their whole life. Amazing the company tolerates that. That says a thing or two about this place? Do a targeted cleanup and fire all those who are active on LinkedIn during office hours!

Don't waste time with their bosses. Both are equally clueless. Send all of your Slack threads, pics, and vids they post straight to the Board of Trustees at the main company mailing address. The message from the top needs to be WORK not WIT all day.

Whats going on? We overhired in tech like many other companies. We also have multiple priorities so nothing is a priority and people are surprised when theres not progress. We need to focus on only the key items. With revenue behind pace, this wouldnt be a surprise.

Much like 2017 the people being let go will be in the 45 to 55 age range to remove higher salaried employees. Each department being asked to submit 10% staff reduction. Severance package will not be as generous as in 2017. Lower staffing need before move back to downtown campus.

Likely going to more like layoff by attrition. They're going to announce a new policy, like RTO, that is going to cause an uproar and resignations. Just as how many people are saying once Franklin closes they are going to leave NM.

Relatively speaking, far from huge. Targeted cleanup from years of bloat that prior management allowed.
