Contractor Layoffs starting

Their last day in next Friday June 2nd. My Director said it was more than just his area, spans business . Likely company wide.
As I am also a contractor, but not impacted (yet) , so I don’t want to give too much away .

Contractors, travel and things like that are great signs of what is about to come.

Before a company cuts full time employees they will usually have a cut overtime, hiring freeze, reduce or eliminate contractors and stop travel. They are quick and cheap ways to cut costs.

Then comes the layoffs which cost more. People get severance and even the company's unemployment insurance costs go up.

I was a contractor on some Aetna IT projects. Started in January and was told to gtfo on May 25th. No info other than that it wasn't performance related, and they accidentally implied at least one other contract was ended.

CVS is very shady when it comes to handling layoffs. You'll notice that companies across the spectrum are laying people off. It's all over the news cycle. But CVS? You never ever hear a peep about layoffs. This is because corporate is very good at keeping bad news out of the news cycle. Shady is what it is.

I work in the Aetna division. I was told today that we would be losing a bunch of contractors. Last day tomorrow. This is the I. T. area.
