Thread regarding Qualcomm Inc. layoffs

Freshers and new joinees incompetent

Recent newly hired are incompetent.
Don't take tasks seriously.
Even in macroeconomic conditions, they take things for granted.
Q overhired in other regions except US.
Q is laying off engineers in US given few quarters back, we were unable to hire in US due to talent crunch and hired incompetent folks. Only h1b are saving Q.

if the company had the right direction then maybe the new guys will be more motivated. pushing old designs to the latest tech node isn't exactly what we are looking for. no one's motivated by an extra 5-10k bonus or a 1 week vacation after months of overtime. Startups have more ba--s to pursue challenging new frontiers, that Qualcomm with all its money can never even dream to pursue.

There is a famous saying - Hard times create strong men, strong men create good times, good times create weak men, and weak men create hard times. Recent grads have graduated into the best job market in living memory. 10%+ raises. Off-cycle raises. Large bonuses. Soaring stock prices (until a year or so ago). They will be forced to shape up once they face hard times. The good ones will adapt. The weak will be culled.

Q can't find decent talent in the US because Q has a bad reputation. No one want to work for a dead end company if they have better options elsewhere. H1B folks are not saving anyone. They hold on because they can't get a job anywhere else and are the epitome of why QualComm is in the cr-p situation it finds itself in these days.
