Thread regarding Citrix Systems Inc. layoffs

Re CSG customers, *who* is leaving or thinking about it?

In the "Long Term Incentives" thread, someone said the following re:

"'How many 'pie in the sky promises' have been made by this leadership?' Customers are asking us the same question, and they're equally unimpressed. They say there's no incentive for them to continue using our products. And I don't blame them."

I keep coming across this hearsay that CSG customers are bailing or about to bail. Can anyone who reads this cough up something more substantial that either refutes or confirms at least ONE such rumor—without, of course, naming any names or incriminating themselves?

Not gonna lie, I'd like something a little more substantial than bi--hing to fuel my schadenfreude. 🙂

Citrix no longer exists. But customers have a product. Leaving. Not sure who I am working for but it is not Citrix. Pain threshold met.

We can just layoff more people then take the savings and acquire the competitors, then lay them off and acquire more competitors, then lay them off… then the only option will be Citrix, so we win and can become a monopoly. Let’s also acquire Broadcom along the way. Easy-peasy-spready-shedy!

Many Citrix customers now are trying to find 3rd party alternatives to bridge the time until they have moved to something new that is NOT Citrix. It looks like the only 3rd party offering comes from LemoniaX. Former Citrix CEO Mark Templeton is in their board.

How many in total is difficult to say. For example, some exit to VMware solutions, while others go to Microsoft (Intune Suite).

Apparently, Gartner and IDC have been maintaining a list of the Citrix exits, based on their current client interviews. Perhaps when they share that data publicly, we'll know more.

not responding favorably to the mandate to go to Universal licensing

TK will send over Frankie “Fingers” Gambolino to make sure they pay.

Then he will send over Vinny “The Vise” to the office to make sure you are working and put in your full 9-5 hours.

These guys have been to prison, so they know how to run an orderly business.

I don't think anyone's going to name specific accounts, but I'll tell you that from here in the partner channel, we've barely heard anything from Citrix since they let our partner manager go in the January layoffs. We have talked to some of our Citrix customers with 1000+ licenses who were not responding favorably to the mandate to go to Universal licensing and are looking at reducing licenses or a complete Citrix exit strategy, and we've had a couple 200+ seat Citrix renewals (on-prem) go unrenewed in 1H 2023 so far. Our consulting side has a few projects progressing to help customers phase out / replace their Citrix footprint before their next renewal. To be fair, we've got some of those with VMware Horizon also, but we're also getting new VMware EUC opportunities to where I don't think we have seen a net new Citrix opportunity on the enterprise side yet this year (couple small ones in SMB that are probably going to get transacted through Azure Marketplace anyway). There's a lot more customers interested in looking to move to Azure/AVD, AWS, or just getting rid of Citrix altogether as they have mandates to move to Zero Trust / SASE frameworks for application access. Just my view from the field.

Unless you are close to retirement, what incentive is there to work for an tech company with no innovation and never will be as that isn’t what drives private equity run businesses?

The products will atrophy and customers will leave. One just needs to look at Broadcom’s acquisition of CA and Symantec. This is where TK learned his managment skills from Hock Tan, the OG of running a lean biz with profit over people.

Hock was recently interviewed and basically said, “I’ve been doing the same thing for 17 years and I’ll keep on following that plan”. That plan is what will turn the once great tibco and Citrix into a sh---y has been business. Customers may not feel the pain now, but it surely coming soon. Just wait for the next security bug that can’t be fixed because no one is at the wheel who can fix it. I can see the ElReg headlines already…

Going through this entire ordeal has sucked for just about everyone as I am sure it has for you. Maybe its time for you to move on with your life instead of looking for things that that feeds your schadenfreude. Instead try to wish nothing but the best for anyone that is left in the company, you will feel a lot better about yourself.
