Any truth to this? Google News isn’t profitable. I heard they are laying off all working on Google News.

Never used Google News, but it's interesting they are getting rid of that but keeping the Doodle team. What they make has a high production value, so I assume they have a good sized budget. There was a perception that Google is a fun, quirky, inviting, etc. company, and the Doodles enforced that opinion. However, with the recent layoffs show that Google is no different from most companies. Might as well stop making these Doodles.
Google news? I had no idea! I guess that's why it's being tossed, because no one knew about it?
