Thread regarding Saudi Aramco layoffs

Ghosted before even joining

Looking for some advice if any can be given. Previously posted on aramcoexpats.com but it was removed and I have been banned!

I resigned as per instructions from Aramco, I had passed all contingencies etc. I was then told to do the medical and it came back with a minor issue which I don’t believe is a problem. However, Aramco have gone silent and I’m now out of work.
Question: Shall I give up and try to find another job or is there hope they will continue the process? Why have they done this?

I assume you had a relocation advisor and they were the ones that told you that now was the time to resign? If so, they are in the wrong but that probably won’t help you. All contingencies cleared should have included the medical check.

This place is overrated by the lazy and useless. Yes, give ut up and leave. Be brave, don't give them a chunk of your life. I know what I am saying.

I’m assuming you have a relocation advisor. You should push very hard for an update. Was the medical for your visa as Aramco does not do actual employment medicals. Are you being considered as Aramco direct hire or as a contractor? Hope it works out for you.

Very sorry this happened to you. But once a Saudi manager has made a decision (in this case not to hire you), there is no reversing course. And EVERYONE at Aramco will follow his lead to ghost you. Why? Because you suing Aramco (or your unemployment) has no effect on him what so ever! Saudi's are unable to think about anyone but themselves. You could get lucky and the ghosting is simply someone going on vacation or just incompetence (which is highly likely!). My advice is to quietly move on and get another job. If they do decide to eventually move you over (which could be in the form of an email in 6 months), it will be from someone expecting you to be on the next plane. No, we are not exagerating and this is what you should expect during your tenure with Aramco.

I am really surprised that the told you to resign without having cleared medical. Did you go in for a medical exam before you got the clearance letter? If not, somebody at Aramco didn't do their job. Were you recruited by London or Houston? Companies get sued over things like this. While I never heard of a case like yours before, I did know a guy who had the terms of his future employment changed after he got his clearance letter.

Two mistakes, quit your job without an offer sheet or relocation order and post on Aramcoexpats. You are dealing with Aramco where decisions and processes are done only when people feel like working on that day. This is a fact. I remember whenever I want something done, I go down to the unit's directory to look for an expat. That increased my chances. Unfortunately, there aren't too many of them anymore. Prudent thing to do is continue living life as it is. Do not rely on Aramco until they assign you to a relocation officer. Who knows? Maybe you will find a better situation during your search for another job. Good luck.
