Store 53 receiving department is in complete chaos. 303 Fed ex was received on Tuesday. 855 was received on Wednesday which had to be uploaded piece by piece by the operations manager and receiving manager. 695 was received on Thursday. Not to mention the 6 pallets of harmony and 9 pallets of demar. There are pallets everywhere with only 2 people to process the freight. Plus 50 to 100 boxes of AUG everyday. Plus and 25 pallets of some BS is suppose to be coming soon. These people are out of their minds.

What difference does it make?
Now I know what they mean about Home Happier.
When I saw the store closing sign, I went Home Happier.
Just an update. 53 is now at 25-50% off but has this huge STORE CLOSING sign up, which to me looks wonderful, especially on camera pics.
Oh, and the Buy Buy is still open despite the official edicts.
And the guy at Portillo's reports he "get a ton of people in here that said they used to work at BBBY and hated it".
You could all just slow it down, and drag out the closing .. no need to ki-l yourselves to get it all done.. it will be there till it sells so just work what and how much you want..
Now, I know your comment is fake, because everyone knows spootie-wonkles are evil little non-corporeal spirits.
Did I read this one reply correctly @1vid+1mH3spRL ...you still care? If anyone is left in this dreadful company that cares you have bigger issues than being jobless within 2 months or less. What do you actually care about that keeps you here now? This could be the most head scratching comment this board has ever had on it.
Chaos and stress is indeed the norm, now. For, among the heaping pallets of the overdue BB&B stuff, and the heaping pallets of the buybuy Baby stuff, and the heaping pallets of the random stuff the liquidators just bought for some reason, did we encounter one troubling box, and when we opened that box, lo, did we discover a quartet of infernal ranting spootie-wonkles. But fear not, for we were prepared with rubber mallets, and when the fell creatures tried to ensnare us in their indifference, bonk them on the noses, we did, and in our moment of glory, the eternal annoyances did disintegrate! We struck down the spootie-wonkles! I said the spootie-wonkles! Amen, Dear Lord!
We just got heaping pallets of all that stuff people were asking about last year.
Why are you all still there? I got out weeks ago and have never been happier! Glad I don’t have to deal with that cr-p and customers.
This might seem naive or obvious, but I think you are getting a bunch of stuff that Hilco could not give away from other chains as well. You are kinda like Ollie's now. Or Big Lots. But yeah, they sure will give priority to unloading their consignment stuff first and at the lowest discount they can give people to get them to take it. It really was a deal with the devil for a couple more months of BBBY. I still do not see how it did them any good to stretch all this out at C Suite and see no reason to applaud them for anything they have done. It was done to try and save their severance packages. Meanwhile, you got stuck with working for Hilco.
Is anyone else getting cr-p from the liquidators about how we need more people to do signing and merchandising and recovery!
Literally 4 people close down our store and we have over 600 cartons of freight coming in every day. We work the freight all day and it’s still not enough.
It’s so frustrating for the workers who still care and want to do right.
I was heartbroken that we are closing but now I can’t wait for this to be over.
Remember when it was announced that Hilco bought hundreds of million dollars worth of stuff to send to our stores on consignment to get us to the "next step"? Well, now that we are in what is always the "next step" when Hilco is involved, we are now seeing the hundreds of millions of dollars worth of stuff.
Well, despite all your comments re: idiocy, I will end with a few items. 53 may be one of the last stores closing because it has strategic value.Maybe even for another chain if they decide to rid the second loft of the rats. If Hilco now runs the show, you are in a great location and they will take advantage of that. You will end up with the stuff that the Rockfords and Frankforts have left over, if any. Why? Because people used to go to 53 from all over this area and even eschew going to Schaumburg or Orland or Chicago Ridge when they were closer. It was the largest store in the Great Lakes region. Your importance was underlined when Princess Ummm did the royal visit. You know her? The Joan of Arc of retail. You are never quite sure if she has her ear to the ground or is just hearing voices in her head. Both, I fear.
That said, it was after COVID that the SM started dodging questions about the place.FEMs had a ton of problems with returns on his watch, indicative of him getting Corporate Phone paranoia. (but cheer up, look where it got Chicago Ridge and their "we stand up to returns" thing! There was never a clear answer for anyone from C Suite on these points!) He was once very pro worker. I would double check anything he says IF indeed he is still your boss and not some liquidator. I have no idea who is up there still as I only really care about one person still there and have offered to help that person. I do respect that person.
I do know life's been a ton more fun without the place and I am doing what I want to be doing right now. I went back to a hobby I had long ago, and it beats putting up with ba----g my head against a wall at Bloodbath. But only you can decide if you want to wait until the very end and if it was worth doing that. If you care enough to tell others about it on a blog, it bothers you.
What a nightmare…and when you think it couldn’t get worse…
So glad to be gone.
Hope those of you still there are gone soon. You will have such a feeling of relief on the other side!
At least they raised the minimum discount to 20%. Now they need to do something about the maximum discount.
Who is trolling you personally if you are not one of the slackers previously mentioned?
I am just calling a spade a spade. And a slacker a slacker. To be honest I had more respect for your Ops. He knew what the score was with the slacking and could not do anything about it due to corporate.
And you whined about all this first. I am not the only one who thinks this sounds like a pity party. You think BBBY cares? Are you new?
And I made out just fine, thanks for the concern.
Not even going to get to your SM. He was good at one time long ago.
I have no idea, either. Are you a sadist? You must be to still be there.
I don't know why I even bother with stupid people. There are nothing but a bunch of trolls here who have supposedly moved on but still want to come one here and read about a company that no longer even applies to them. Talk about not having anything better to do. No ones whining or crying. I'll be alright regardless of what happens because I never put all my eggs into one basket. If it wasn't for my store manager who I have a ton of respect for I would have been called it quits.
Exactly what part of "everything must go" are you having difficulty understanding?
Oh, I have let go a ton on lazy co workers on here. It's been my pleasure. And you DID bring this company down as well. It was not only the C Suite. Your a-s dragging let the rest of the good workers down. And now for the pity party?
You can go on a long long time listing disgruntled 53 workers, kid. And a longer time listing the lazy ones who had others do their job for them while shirking their responsibilities. If you have been around any length of time, you have seen them on here.
I am just calling out before you go out of business and obviously I hope I never see them again. I honestly don't care what I sound like. You deserve to be called out.
Your type made BBBY what it is today. Good job.
And you are whining because you are kicking yourself.
Otherwise, you would be looking for a solution. Or working.
Or just leaving.
Sounds like a lot of disgruntled former 53 employees who can't let go. No one is expecting anything from anyone. We're merely painting the picture of what it's like in the stores right now. If that bothers you, stop stalking this site which no longer pertains to you. How do you have so much free time when you former employees have moved on to much bigger and better things lol 😆 🤔
You can leave. It's an at will state.
You are stuck there whining. Of your own volition.
If that is not being an id--t, what is?
Trigger. Lol.
Want us to cry for you?
None of you id--ts know what you're talking about. The operations manager and receiving manager, whether that's who he is by title or if that's just what I call him are neither of the people you heartless a holes think they are. I don't know why I even post on here. I don't want to entertain you clowns any longer
Yeah- I remember these two as well. They were only good for gossiping when they were on the floor and had to act like they were actually doing something. They used to keep you guys in WM from helping out people in the rest of a large store!
As I recall, didn't someone end up asking their district about it? And didn't he say something like "The sign on front says BBBY, not WM?"
And they want sympathy! LOL!
YPT.
/s.
What did you expect when you are the last large store in the Chicago area? Hilco only has one place to house the stuff.
You get no empathy from me. I busted my hump to make WM look good. You were a poor lead who came begging for a position with 53 after being laid off.
Is this the mgr who once left me with 6 cages of merch on the floor and 2 hours before a royal visit after "working all night" with her partner?
You deserve what you get if this is the case. Hence, yes, karma.
We had to hide them in the stockroom, and the DM then asked me why, if the two people were there all night, was this stuff not put out? She told the SM that "your people are not going their jobs".
I respected that DM a ton.
They are now, eh?
Karma
You knew the job was dangerous when you took it, Fred.
Having come from store 53 at one time, odd are I know both of these people. As I recall, the current "mgr" there returned from furlough when her position was eliminated in 2020.
If this is the case, YOU came back and asked for more. Don't complain about a job you essentially volunteered for by coming back after the laid you off.
Wait.....you have an operations manager and a receiving manager? Most stores now just have kids with keys that have maybe 3 months total retail experience. NICE.
Just do what you can. You don't owe bbb or Hilco s@#$%! at this point. It's all pure profit for them at our expense
