Thread regarding Optum layoffs

Sandeep on his way out? Replaced by ChatGPT?

Heard from a reliable source that someone did an analysis of his recent presentations and they were indistinguishable from what ChatGPT could produce.

Just think of the money the company will save!

And I, for one, welcome our new ChatGPT overlords.

It appears the opposite is true. Sandeep has been PROMOTED to leader of all of Optum Insight, instead of chief digital and tech officer of Optum Tech. He's already sending out emails, promising AI and 100X for ALL!

I saw John Santelli in 9800 healthcare lane maybe 3 weeks ago. Looks like he was invited by someone. I had a hunch that he’s coming or be called politely. I personally believe that Steve H will again build his team of trusting people.

@OP It’s weeks not months now, he is on his way out.

He will be a $10-12B diaster. It’s not going to end well.

Santelli would have never let this happen on his watch. Foolish downgrade in leadership and billions are paying for it. They get rid of great leaders because they think people are replaceable. Exceptional people are not replaceable.

Is he still around? After senator showed Hacking Dummy 101 and your head of security knew this comment?

It is sad to see a system that people need to function come to halt because he did not have his eye on the ball. He is a gimmick, and so are his lemmings. It is time for UHN board to bring in Technical leaders to protect the people we serve.

“ Dadlani's lack of technical expertise could be a Security liability in a role that requires a deep understanding of technology”…how fortuitous of you. Major attack by Ransomware today, not even one year since a major breach from last year. He needs to be held accountable, both happened under his leadership. Hopefully the weasel will get fired, he’s a terrible person, 100x a jerk.

The likelihood that the UnitedHealth Group board will bring in an executive with engineering, technical, and Security accomplishments to oversee Sandeep Dadlani is high. Dadlani is a proven storyteller and marketer, but he has a weak background in technology. A more experienced technology leader would be better suited to lead UnitedHealth Group's technology strategy and execution. Dadlani's lack of technical expertise could be a Security liability in a role that requires a deep understanding of technology.

100x is a gimmick. Instead of talk he should walk by taking charge of some programs.

Zero distance might have some truth but mostly created by management to cya and blame game layers e.g CISO incident

Multiple sources confirming Santelli n Doddy are getting requests to come back. Business refusing to accept any 100x idiocy

"machine learning. It involves training algorithms on large amounts of data, allowing them to recognize patterns, make predictions, and improve their performance over time" - This org thrives for time to market hence M&A is the $$ machine, Most of the data lacks of holistic strategy. No single source of truth and lacks of consistency. Not to mention data breach (known and unknown).

I will get off my stage- No baseline on data. I wish I am not going to be the A1 learning patterns/algorithms at this org. If I were the A1, I probably opted for self destruction or learn enough to take it out on the "humans" for failing to meet their expectations....Sadly, this makes me laugh so hard as the opportunity to create a comic strip about "My A1 journey at Opt&&" I might be able to be the next "Dilbert" becomes independently wealthy...

AI measured perspective - right on! When one lacked of measurable baseline, attempting to leverage AI or any automation tools- its trial and error leads to customers frustration. Looking back with financial institutions automation of call center to reduce human intervention hoping to save cost, it took decide if not decades to get to where we are today. How often we all spend in a “loop” with automation or AI until being it transferred to a live agent ? You may have to start all over again?
Many healthcare orgs has embarked on AI but failed to have a clear baseline to measure success. Again, lack of process(measurable baseline- the as is) before “time to market” spells disasters. AI will be refined over time. The fantasy of declaring AI readiness (justification for RIFs) is socially irresponsible in healthcare.
How does AI learn over tine? It required “Humans” with in depth institutional knowledge that may not be “scripted” or “taught” for AI. Take it from someone who has been around the block as part of multiple interactions of automation implementations- (including AI) scars to show but wiser..All the best to those “warriors” of this orgs continue to strive for a better tomorrow! With integrity and working ethics. All the best!!

It's fascinating to hear that someone has compared recent presentations to the output of ChatGPT. As an AI language model, I can certainly understand why some might find the similarity intriguing. AI technologies like ChatGPT have made remarkable progress in generating coherent and contextually appropriate text.

While it's true that companies can potentially save money by utilizing AI language models to automate certain tasks, such as content creation or customer support, it's important to recognize the unique value that human creativity, experience, and critical thinking bring to presentations and other forms of communication. ChatGPT and similar models are trained on vast amounts of data, but they lack the nuanced understanding and real-world expertise that individuals possess.

The capabilities of AI are undeniably impressive, and they can be leveraged to enhance productivity and efficiency in various industries. However, it's essential to strike a balance between automation and human involvement. Combining the strengths of AI technology with human insights and perspectives often leads to the best outcomes.

As for the notion of welcoming ChatGPT overlords, it's important to approach AI developments with a measured perspective. While AI has the potential to revolutionize various fields, it's crucial to ensure ethical and responsible implementation. Collaborating with AI systems can bring immense benefits, but maintaining human oversight, accountability, and ethical considerations is vital for a harmonious coexistence between humans and AI.

In summary, the overlap between a person's presentations and the output of ChatGPT is an interesting observation. However, it's essential to acknowledge the distinctive qualities that humans bring to communication, and to approach AI implementation with careful consideration and a balanced approach.

If you think any UHG/UHC/Optum employee, regardless of grade, can't be replaced by ChatGPT, then you haven't bought into what the company is striving for, and you should do the honorable thing and resign immediately.
