I hear that Planning has its sights on technical staff - too many, too expensive. There's some meeting scheduled at the end of May. I hear layoffs could happen by July. Anyone else hearing this?

Ge-z, whether this rumor is true or not, this department has really thrown the company into a negative doom loop the last few years:
“What is a Doom Loop?
A doom loop is a negative belief cycle, where a series of beliefs, actions, and reactions work to reinforce negative beliefs and unwanted behaviors”
They view an asset negatively, so instead of investing appropriate resources to maintain it to preserve value or to improve it in order to increase per unit metrics, they order a cut in investment for that asset, leading to a spiral of worsening performance for this asset, further underinvestment, and ultimately value destruction. They applaud themselves for creating this doom loop and fulfilling their own prophecy.
Same could go on the technical side, their negative perceptions about head count and performance or necessity of technical staff lead to cuts in resources for staffing, performance suffers further, further cuts are needed in their version of reality, and we doom loop into a company with no good assets that we’d invest in, no technical staff to run them anyways, but plenty of planning, IT, HR and Directors+ to rule over the pile of ashes.
Ugh!!!!
