I’m surprised no one has tried to unionize vision, it would be the easiest department to do so in many stores across the country. Easy access to employees, pretend to purchase glasses and chat with the opticians. Many are disgruntled and unhappy anyways, I can’t imagine that they’d be hard to convince.
Pay, hours, workload due to lack of staff, market directors with out the knowledge or empathy to manage vision, secrecy and lack of communication, bonus and pay plans. The list goes on.
I’m not stating this because I think unions are the way to go, but im surprised that it hasn’t been done I know many of our opticians would sign for better pay and work conditions.
I agree. Lots of people will get pi---d off on May 25th when this is announced. Its great for the unlicensed opticians but a slap to those who are in licensed states. I'm a market director and we had calls about this yesterday.
That’s a REAL good way to pi-s off licensed folks and get them to leave.
Yes Paul that is correct. Unless you're in a "competitive market", licensed associates aren't get raised. They are "closing the gap" between licensed and non licensed states pay. Unlicensed VCM will get raises. Licensed VCMs ain't getting sh-t (unless you're in the competitive markets)
Nice raises for non licensed opticians but little to nothing for licensed opticians and VCMs?
Some markets will get a "competitive market" pay increase. Market directors aren't going away. VCM isn't going salaried at this time. Opticians in non licensed states are getting nice raises.
Welp. One new role has leaked. Vision Center Development Coach. But it’s a regional training and support role.
Still think VCMs are being eliminated and replaced with 1-2 VCAMs per market.
Yea basically demote all VCMs to optical or health and wellness team lead. Bye bye bonus.
Essentially a hiring freeze, my guess is close some vision centers and downsize staff. Make a lead then a vcam. Hopefully purge the market directors.
I bet 20-1 that whatever it is, it is really not going to be positive for us, but they sure as heck are going to paint us a picture and tell us that it is Golden! Lol
