Thread regarding Intel Corp. layoffs

Why the Owners and ELT Don't See the Obvious?

By common wisdom, the owners should care. Unless Intel is just one of Larry's ugly pets that he starves on and off while having it do odd, self destructive things.

Don't assume the owners are stupid when there is another possibility... Namely, many people recognize the the problem, but the problem is close to intractable and there is no simple solution.

At the highest level, we know the economics of vertical integration no longer work for Intel given that they cannot fill the fabs and cost of each new process node is exponentially increasing. The high level options are to divest the fabs OR fill the fabs. Intel is trying to fill the fabs with outside customers since they are inept and cannot create new products.

Either scenario is likely to fail. So, recognizing the problem is very different then having a solution to the problem. Pat convinced the board that the 'moonshot' was the way to go. I am out of the stock, I don't believe it will work.
