It's been a year since I resigned. I can't believe it. A year ago I was miserable. Today I couldn't be happier. Remote work is an absolute game changer. Having a manager I actually respect and can learn a lot from is another absolute game changer. And how refreshing is to experience genuine diversity: from 70s to 20s, from Japan to San Francisco, from community college to Harvard, from bachelors to PhDs, from Liberal Arts to Neuroscience. Not to mention the salary and the bonuses, the top health insurance and unlimited vacations.
Fellow EM colleagues, I came here to encourage you to leave. Life is so much better after Exxon. Take back control of your life and career. Not all corporate America is as rotten and toxic as EM, there are great companies with great cultures and great managers out there.
