Laid off today, first day back from medical leave and immediately let go. Minimal severance and no benefits past termination date. Absolutely callous behaviour

As sh***y as this is no one can be surprised by this behaviour.
A couple of decades of tales regarding cuts done by IBM and other megacorps is a reminder that we have little power individually. The problem is that workers take the good times for granted and become entitled, comfortable and then surprised to find out that you were just a number all along.
This will always occur without some form of unity or better laws protecting workers.
