The quality of engineering and innovation in India and China still not on par with US. So there will always be a US presence. Unfortunately there will be RIF to reduce costs to a minimum. That’s just business.
More people will be hired in india to replace highly paid employees in San Diego.
Israel and India sites cannot be touched but the rest can be sent to the meat grinder.

Ur math is correct for a factory worked making widgets. And to increase margins on a commodity product, thats all well understood and the correct opex mode to be thinking about.
There is another side of the business.
Coming up with the design of the Next Chip requires SD employees.
As somebody who tells India employees what to do from SD i know what India is good for. They are good copy cats to run our factory and processes and churn out existing designs or N-1 derivatives.
But not so much to design or come up with anything N or N+1.
It's called TCO. U need SD if ur going to have N or N+1 designs.
But that's all neither here or there. Mgmt and funding comes from India now, if you didnt know. So, that ship has sailed and never coming back unless the top brass get it and bring it back (not happening).
So u might as well just talk about layoffs. It's more interesting aspect of Q.
One Indian engineer costs 1/7th as much as 1 SD engineer, even if the Indian is 1/23rd as capable and 1/79th as intelligent. So, in the end, replacing all SD workers with "engineers" in India saves -37.6% as much money.
San Diego campus is little India. So if Qualcomm hits SD and India seems racist! Layoffs in India and little India
Based on all rumors so far, the layoff would be world wide, and SD seems to be the epicenter, and India looks like an exemption.
