Thread regarding Teradata Corp. layoffs

The Day The Teradata Music Died - when exactly ?

There's no disputing the light at Teradata has flickered out long ago...and this place is heading into the abyss with parasites and vultures looting the coffer.
When would you say the exact moment it began?

Was it when the wrong people was hired like OR?, what people said like SB dismissing cloud?, or inaction from sleeping at the wheel when the revolution swept through the night?

It reminds me of an old song ... revised for us

Long long time ago, I can still remember
How Teradata used to make me smile
And I knew if I had my chance
That I could succeed in a great company
And maybe grow old with the Teradata family
But ELT incompetency and arrogance made me shiver
With every fake work and layoffs they deliver
Bad news, mistrust, and destruction are the reality
I couldn't stay with losers for eternity
I remember that everyone did their best to help
But management did not listen but exact revenge
Then everything they touched were broken
So bad that we all realised it´s forever gone
The day the music died
So bye-bye, Miss American Pie
Drove my Chevy to the levee
But the levee was dry
Them good old boys were drinking wh----y and rye
Singing, "This'll be the day that Teradata die"
This will be the day that Teradata die

It stopped when MK tried to turn Teradata into a digital marketing company.

Agreed, SB is a very articulate presenter but technology thinking is suspect. The R&D rank and file people were the innovators, movers and shakers. PM and execs collaborated well back then with R&D for the benefit of the whole company. Now, execs aka C something aka ELT are arrogant, self serving, know it all, with my way or hwy attitude, and are completely a failure and exposed.

It started when they started putting salespeople in as CEOs. There was no vision. MH, MK, VL and now SM as CEOs??? With no vision at the CEO level, you would need a super CTO. But we've had SB the entire ride. Couple this with an indifferent board and you get the failure we have not.

I think it started when they pushed Mike Koehler out. He wasn’t the best CEO, but he chose decent people and listened to them. I never thought SB had any real influence when it came to R&D. I always saw him as a figurehead who customers and media liked, but really wasn’t relied on to produce anything.

This happened when Teradata decided to go ALL IN into CRM business without understanding that the market was over saturated and they can only have there a niche of a niche, also not 100% guaranteed. This lead to missed Hadoop trend, then missed Cloud trend. Now Teradata is far away from catching on AI, ML and everything that requires native cloud integrations. Will survive only while existing customers prepare for migrations. Still a couple of years to go.
