Thread regarding Citrix Systems Inc. layoffs

Id--tic stack ranking system

It was praised at the GEM by the only one in the company under the delusion that it's a good thing. Of course, it'll end up being a popularity contest. That's right, just like in middle school. Anyone who knows they do good work, and is pigeonholed into a 3 rating, should express outrage, argue it, complain to HR. Don't let this stack ranking cr-p become an easy thing.

They will use the ratings to avoid paying bonuses later.

Everyone knows the stack rating s are BS. Anyone hit with a bogus 3 rating yet?

My KPI is to get TK fired.

A perfect example of toxic management.

Start planning your way out to something better, it exists.

I have had no discussions with Mgr except when she provided my 3 person team their KPIs that will be measured against. To say they are extremely unattainable is an understatement. Freaking joke

Maybe the stack ranking will be based on how accurately you can throw popcorn into TK’s mouth. Sounds about as objective as whatever they will come up with, but more fun!

In case it wasn’t clear to you, when we’re complaining of “stack rankings,” we’re complaining of the forced (and advertised) percentages. We are all very aware of the failed cultures such policies have always produced. I think everyone understands that rewards were apportioned according to relative performance in the past.

What's id--tic is all this talk about stack ranking like it's something Citrix has never done before.

Most companies use a form of stack ranking by default, because every group only has so much budget for compensation & incentives. Even if everyone on a given team "exceeded expectations," the rewards still wouldn't be equal. Everyone would probably get "something" but some folks would get more than others bc of some other metric (e.g., 360 feedback, progress on goals, working on a high profile project, etc).

Citrix has been stack ranking employees for years, so it shouldn't surprise anyone that it's continuing the practice. What Citrix has never done (to my knowledge) was use a forced curve like TK describes (and clearly gets off on & salivates while talking about it).

Of course, the only reason to use a forced curve is to incite the herd to cull itself, so to speak, either by quitting or being fired. There really is no other way to interpret it. No company wants to keep making headlines for layoffs, so now the quiet sla-ghter begins.

"I cannot think of a single reason why anyone should work at CSG, unless you are unable to get another job."

Unfortunately, that's exactly the assessment that TK has made of the remaining CSG workforce. It's why he clearly has no respect for us. However, as soon as the job market improves I will be gone and so will my manager. Meanwhile, I try not to let my feelings of being constantly humiliated by our CEO spoil my evenings and weekends at home.

A team of two people clearly isn’t working on anything important, can be replaced by a team of 10 in India at 10% the price, so polish that linked in profile asap.

And we’re “let go” if our rating is lower than the rest of the team we’re on? WTF! I’m on a team of two people….

That is not the way it works. The managers will be mandated, or at least pressured, into having X% rated 1, Y% rated 3 and everyone else can be rated 2.

Lets hear from some managers here who are going to do the "ratings." Are you going to make it like a stupid 8th grade popularity contest and pick even good employees for 3 ranks, or are you going to do the right thing and refuse to rank anyone as 3 who doesn't deserve it.

I decided to leave when TK initially unveiled stack ranking. It was clear to me that he was keen to remove everything that made Citrix a good place to work and try to make it all about (the possibility of) making money. Instead of denying reality, I accepted that this is what CSG has become and shopped my skills around. My base pay is now over 14% higher than what I left at CSG, and my essentially guaranteed bonus is a large multiplier on the best ranking CSG was offering. When TK made it all about money, he made CSG less competitive in the marketplace for quality labor.

Can’t wait! Let’s start, glad we can collaborate.

I’m just following then orange man who thinks his Ivanka is 'hot' and would 'date her if she wasn't my daughter'

So much to learn from out leaders, TK should follow in then footsteps of the great ones.

Can’t wait for RTO to get in person evals going.

  1. Sure! Let’s first start with ranking your mother and/or sister’s stack first.
  2. From there, we’ll rank your tiny member. I have a microscope and tweezers ready - drop pants, little man! I bet even TK’s is * ba-f* larger than yours.

Exactly this. The mouse-cheese experiment example is spot on, except you left out that even if you are a mouse that manages to locate the cheese, it's not at all how it was described to you - it's smaller, moldy on the edge, and you can only eat it in a CSG office.

Let’s have 360 degree stack ranking!

Where is Lord Voldepork’s suggestion box? Do I have to travel to Albania to submit my index card?

That's it EXACTLY. A popularity contest, to HËLL with your quality of work. Its Voldepork's way of firing people for "poor performance" AND not having to pay any severance to boot. He's evil. STACK RANKING IS A POPULARITY CONTEST.
