Thread regarding Optum layoffs

I’m a human who has to use your horrible scheme and you should all be ashamed

Because UHC/Optum has no actual way for users of it to get help, I thought I would tell their disgruntled employees some truth.
My parents are elderly and ill on Medicare advantage so I have experienced firsthand the nightmare Optum creates in real time. We are told we have home care and cancer services. We have lots of different people calling who don’t record or read anything, yet all typing furiously as we are handed for hours at a time to different people who can’t explain or help. We have been sent to places that don’t exist, we have been promised a nurse to come to the house to help and instead had 3 in a week come to evaluate and do nothing, each not knowing about the other.
I hope each of you will be forced to use this cruel circus for yourselves.
Why are you working there? The money must be amazing because you are ethically no better than people making bo--s or perhaps torturing people is fun for your product development teams.
If you are a real human and not a 2 hour on-hold system, please do your soul a favor and bravely ask your leaders what your actual purpose is:
It is this, to make money from sick and vulnerable people while pretending you offer something of value.
Please tell the truth to each other. Your company and the other insurance scammers who offer no health and no care need to go out of business for the good of our species.

I’m saddened to hear of your situation and I know how frustrating it can be when all you want is your voice to be heard and are exhausting all outlets for help. First as as an employee let me apologize for these obvious issues on our end…the health system is broken not just on insurers side but as a whole. The “fix” is not as any easy approach as there are so many facets to consider. As for being a Medicare advantage member you can file a compliant with the Centers of Medicare and Medicaid. All I can say is the more you bark someone will listen. Keep being an advocate don’t give up..it’s exhausting and full of moments of anger/tears but keep pressing. You can also file a grievance with United. I hope this helps in some way.

This site is about layoffs, I get your frustration. But this is probably the wrong place to vent whete people are being laid off from the place they work.
