Thread regarding Qualcomm Inc. layoffs

Qcom employees working as full time realtors

I saw many employees filling-up real estate related forms in the office and taking their clients to show homes during office hours. Employees should be professional, they should love their jobs and committed to work 100% for the employer. These people are highly unprofessional and doing unethical things for the company. QCOM should fire these people even though they have high rating because of their relationship with their corrupt managers. Clean up! Clean up!!

Someone on this post said you can report them anonymously to HR and if there is a conflict in jobs they can get fired. Well, let me ask you, are you going to make more money cause you got someone fired. Are you going to be praised by everyone in the team for getting another member in the team or department fired. Instead, people are going to start being very careful about what they say to you. You think they will not find out who told HR. People talk and word gets around. Another words, mind your own business. Collect your paycheck and live happily, AND let others live happily as well. The company doesn't give a hoot about you.

Are any of them good? I may need to sell my house after the next round of layoffs. Any recommendations?

OP, if you think people running a side business causes trouble, you can report it to HR, and you can do it anonymously. Q requires employees to report all side businesses for interest conflict clearance. And one of my ex-colleagues was fired, because he didn’t inform the company he had a second job as a game developer, and got fired eventually after someone filed an interest conflict complaint, which we all think it’s a bullsh-t.

To the Q-realtors: I predict Q will be selling or leasing out empty buildings after they get rid of everybody that doesn't generate income. I think Building AV will be empty soon. See if you can get that contract as a realtor. Commercial real estate pays well ! XD

Are you jealous that you don't have two incomes coming in? Become their friend and let them teach you to have your own side business. Join the club and take advantage of it while you can. Learn from top management and executives. How do you think they make their money? Everyone these days have a side job. Get used to it. Inflation is not coming down anytime soon. Prices continue to increase. Just look at crude oil. You're going to be paying a lot more at the gasoline pump the remaining year. Everyone needs a side job. So, go get one for yourself. Learn from them.

You should get a side hobby instead of worry about what others are doing. Looks like you have a lot of time on your hand. Mind your business and let the managers worry about it. And if you don't like it, transfer to another group.

When QCOM is making employees in USA work late during the week or on weekends without pay, is that not unethical. When they force you to work beyond the 40 hour work week, is that not unethical. When you have to get up to be on a call at 6AM or 10PM, is that not unethical. When they transfer the work to other countries and cut your group in half, is that not unethical. I'm guessing that you are a new hire or haven't been with the company for long. Well, wait till you've been with this company for a while. Then you will see how unprofessional and unethical not only this company but most companies are. And if you think by reporting anyone to HR is going to make you shine, well let me tell you, HR is their only to protect the company. They have no interest in you. You may be the person who will be fired, instead of the real-estate job employee. Most HRs don't like outliers meaning those who complain about others. Today you complain about your colleague, tomorrow you complain to the media about the company.

So what. Like the company cares about you. When you put in more then 40 hours, does the company pay you overtime. When there are layoffs, does the company care about how you will feed your family, pay bills, and if you will be medically insured. If the company offers flextime, then the employee should take advantage of it. In this case, it's a side real-estate job. The employee is using his/her flex-time to do this job to make some extra cash that this company is not paying old timers who are still getting extremely low salary compared to the new unexperienced young or on visa hires. If you don't like what they are doing to make the extra buck, then why don't you leave the company. Go work for a military funded company where you have to clock in every minute of your working time. You are the stupidest person who thinks that this company cares about you. And if you think they care so much about the 100% work you are doing, then wait till they notify you by EMAIL that you are fired. Take advantage of the company or mind your own business.
