So we all had the pleasure this week of reading the announcement of our new CIO. The former CSCO exec that sent the announcement was careful to point out his prior two jobs that he lasted roughly a year. Neither of these much smaller companies seemed to lead to CIO of a company the size of WDC so there must have been a backstory. Guess what they “forgot “ to mention…. His previous 23 years at you guessed it CSCO! Oh what joy at how lucky we are to have yet another former CSCO person to continue what DG has started! The BOD must have something far more important than looking after this company.

The newly appointed Chief Information Officer (CIO) does not have any prior connection to Cisco. It is important to clarify that the term CISO stands for Chief Information Security Officer, which is not related to Cisco. In fact, the new CIO used to work at Broadcom, where he held the title of CISO—a fact that has often led to confusion with Cisco.
Last year, when the previous CIO left, GA stepped in as the interim CIO. It was common knowledge among the employees that GA was likely to become the permanent replacement. As a leader, the new CIO is known for his strict, no-nonsense approach to work. He is a hard a-s and doesn't care about the human element whatsoever.
This has led to a general perception that he is indifferent to the well-being of their colleagues. Consequently, the new CIO has not managed to forge many friendships within the organization, which has been noted by those who know him well.
