No troll here. I have a different opinion. I prefer to go to the office. Ironically I have received an offer from another faang recently in which I can work 100% from home. I would rather go to the office though.

HR troll, so what if you didn't take a paycut... At least 200,000 employees, who worked more than a year, got a financial haircut with the RSU drop and cutbacks on RSU quotas for Forte. Their salary depends more on RSU's than yours if you even have one.

"Greater mass competition" ? Inevitable salaries would drop with the increase in supply? Gibberish troll talk.

RTO is the future and there are literally millions of jobs out there. Why don't you make a list and apply yourself. There's more than pay on the table.

We are lucky employers are not following YET your advice. If they did, you would have even a greater mass competition from folks across the US and world. It is clear and inevitable salaries would drop with the increase in supply.

I did not take any paycut by the way. I would vest the RSU at $112 in 2024 just wait for a likely increase in the future. Then sell it. There is no indication that will lead to a drop in income.

If RTO is so important to you, why dont you find a company that can let you do that? You may take a paycut, but that may be a good trade-off.

Uh, the salaries are already effectively cut through massive RSU and RTO expenses. Remote is actually cheaper for Amazon because they can just sell their buildings, break their leases, get reduced CapEx - that will help with their cash flow problems. They're doing it all wrong.

It is a fact the qyality of software in India has improved. I have witnessed US teams replaced by offshoring in India. You can remain in denial if you wish.

This isn't about RTO. In the late 90's to early 2000's many companies were moving jobs to India. There was talks about whether getting a CS degree was worth it because of this. I worked in a few companies that did this. The common ground was they had a fair to poor technical solution before moving jobs overseas. The work environment was never good in the first place. The overseas employees worked harder because of the time zone difference, but they aren't very productive, and produce bad quality, mainly because new grads are put on projects, and the turnover ratio was high.
