All kinds of dirty stuff going on. They are putting people on PIP without telling them now and being told to give Needs Improvement on their reviews. At least Cisco stopped the stack ranking.

Hey Troll! Google "Cisco Plans No Further Job Cuts". Yes, Cisco has isolated layoffs each year, which they lie about, but they're still smaller in proportion and they're not as wasteful as Alexa, Stores, PXT, real estate units, and lack RTO politics. Just pick a good group at Cisco and stick with it, then go to another company - less immune to layoffs.
For many (especially long-tenured employees), Amazon comp is actually closer to average (!) after the RSU drop, low raises (that ignore inflation), RTO expenses ($5K-$50K). If a LCOL tenured engineer (8 year exp) has a $150K base with a $250K gross yearly target from RSU's, and the RSU's for one year drop 50% over the last year, then that leaves $200K. Then, take out $20K in yearly RTO expenses (gas, parking, car maintenance, weekday child care, eating out). That leaves $180K gross - i.e. close to average. Similar for a director: $1M -> $500K - they can go to another large firm, get the same or more.
Plenty of companies that pay in the higher percentile. Even Cisco!
Cisco only had 5% layoffs and said "no more!".
Cisco has annual layoffs. Please give a source for the "no more" claim.
just about anywhere is more 'rosier' than Amazon - RSU value drop, low raises, RSU award cutbacks, RTO and its expenses. "
Amazon employees are paid way more than the average software engineer... even after RSU value drops, low raises and all other other cutbacks. Sure, there are a few companies which pay more.
Speak for yourself. According to news reports, at least 30000 Amazonians say that the work from home benefit means plenty for many people. Right now, just about anywhere is more 'rosier' than Amazon - RSU value drop, low raises, RSU award cutbacks, RTO and its expenses. "We'll give you a paycut, make you fear huge slow layoffs, and make you work in a stinkin' office and sit in a car praying for 30 days". Real classy. Cisco only had 5% layoffs and said "no more!". Oh, and they're hiring.
Did you work at Cisco? I did for 8 years before joining AWS. There are pros and cons like anywhere else. It is not the Rosie picture you are trying to project. By the way I don’t care with the work from home benefit. I’d rather work in the office. That benefit means nothing for many people.
"Same" (or better) without the RTO costs and RSU drops, yes (!) RTO is very expensive for employees (anywhere from $5K to $50K/year lost). You may likely make more at Cisco AND enjoy. And it's not just about comp. The "short-term" stock prices have become long-term in case you haven't looked at the financials - massive 2YR negative free cash flow, increased attrition. By comparison, Cisco is a much better managed company with no shortage of opportunity. Definitely apply there. NVidia and Adobe too. Lots of places.
Keep on dreaming that a competent L6 at Amazon is making the same at Cisco. If you base yourself in short-term stock prices and you dont know the market opportunity for Cisco vs Amazon, I cannot even help.
No, Amazon employees already make 50% less after the RSU drop and RTO. Hello?! Make more at Cisco while working from home.
Everything has a price. In general, L5-L7 equivalent at Cisco would make 50% less. Do you want that?
On a more realistic note, Cisco is hiring for TONS of remote jobs! Of course Amazon makes Cisco look ethical. Start applying before RTO ppl!
Well, of course, you may say that, having deposited female and suitcase at their destination, old Freddie should have uttered a brief, courteous "Pip-pip!" and legged it.
