Or are they sometimes good? VPs, non-union, management etc. Or ones that help the company overall be a success? I assume everyone here thinks these would be good layoffs. Proving the point that not all layoffs, in any function, are bad?

Maybe not better. But, cheaper.... a LOT cheaper. Enough to more than ompensate for any loss of skill or quality.
Anyway... it won't be long before anyone who wants to actually talk to someone will me dead.
I tell my employees all the time that we all need to work for the greater good. If Frontier has to lay off some of the uneducated techs and call center reps, then that will make us stronger. The Union needs to stop being so selfish.
So if they want to layoff uneducated techs and call center reps then they need to get rid of all of the vendors and contractors. If you think the company is getting rid of Highly skilled union employees and getting something better you are a fool. The vendor center reps and contractor techs are completely worthless and create more problems and literally are sabotaging the company. But sure stick with that narrative that the union workers are the uneducated ones. Ride that narrative right into the next bankruptcy
A truly spectacular lack of business understanding. Two key points:
- 'Highly skilled' union people. Errrrrmmmm field techs and call centers?
- Yes, let's keep the highly paid, totally job protected, zero performance managed union people. That's definitely the best way to avoid high costs which lead to bankruptcy.
Genius, pure genius.

And.....is it the right thing for the Union to defend jobs that are not defendable given new technology? Or should we believe that we are all stuck in time and nothing will change? Serious question.

Why is it stupid - I asked a legitimate, and serious, question. I wanna know if the people here are only against layoffs if it is for Union folk? Or are some other types of layoff good? Or is it possible some Union layoffs are good?

Can't layoff uneducated techs, they all have seniority

I don't know that that's correct, seen lots of directors and VPs get laid off. Agree with you point on the Union, they enable lots of people to get away with stuff they'd never get away with unless the Union covered their a_sses
VP's/DIR's don't get laid off around here. Union's are for id--ts that need a mafia to keep them employed; every time union reps get laid off, it's for overly good reasons and in reality they should have been laid off/fired years ago.
