Thread regarding Teradata Corp. layoffs

To turn this company around, we need people to make things happen

My perspective:

  1. Yes, this company is very broken.
  2. Trust in product quality is minimal and it seems all our internal processes and systems are broken
  3. There are some serious problems with senior leadership’s ability to pull together and bring the company back to former glory
  4. These posts are mostly from smart people who aren’t just disgruntled, but actually recognize the problems that need to be solved.
  5. With that said… The thumbs up/down responses to certain posts indicate that many people on this forum have become unwilling to see any positive. To turn this company around, we need people to make things happen and not just sit back and thumbs up the negative comments and thumbs down the positive one. And we definitely don’t need people discarding a post that offered some hope as automatically being written by an ELT member or HR.

— Not ALL directors and up are bad
— There are definitely some newer people in director and up positions who are working very hard to turn this shop around.
— If you care about this company, please look for a way that you can be part of the story of how it comes back to glory. Not every company ends up like Kodak or Blockbuster.
— We are a business on the brink of disaster… we need all of our skills to turn this around IN SPITE OF all those people who are making bad decisions (you know… the people most of the posts in this forum are about).
— If you truly think there is absolutely no hope and that you cannot do anything to contribute to saving this company, then please move on quickly - if you don’t, no matter how many bad decisions are made by others, you will also be part of the story on why this company fails if you are taking up a position and not trying making a contribution to turn this company around.

Summary: I believe in the accuracy of most of the problems reported in this very active forum. I do not, however, believe it’s too late to turn it around. We need all hands on deck to keep us from sinking. I am fighting to make my contribution in my area of expertise. It’s quite frustrating, but I am making progress. What contribution can you make to be a part of an amazing comeback story?

Whoever wrote this post represent everything that is wrong about this company...
naive, inexperienced, clueless, incompetently optimistic, and if poster is ELT or supporter, arrogant, self serving, and dismissive of all that has been said by the people that care about this company.

the message is clear... if you´re not on board with the program, get out

No worries, everyone with experience and knowledge are going, they will not be a part of this sh"tshow.

Who is this poster, what area of expertise, and to what standard is progress being made? Sounds like an ELT in area of DEI doing fake work.

Plead all you want and some will fall for it but regardless, this place is done. Nothing can revive it as seen over the last 8 years and now money not well spent. When the problem is systemic and at the core, there´s no cure but to start over.

Feel free to waste your good earning years on this broken place doing fake work to enrich the ELTs and their supporters and go down with the sinking ship.

We've made lots of contribution but you don't listen. You're gonna throw us out now?

You let go of all the people trying to "fix" Teradata. Multiple times!

Now you're trying to get employees to "fix" Teradata again. Surprise surprise nobody is going to do anything outside of exactly what's required to keep their job.

Teradata is delusional.

The biggest problem is a lack of humility on the ELT. They pretend to know everything rather than ask people who know. On HAs second day she had all the answers. Then they get defensive. Why do we always hire ELT from the outside? It’s never going to work and drives smart people away.

Phase 1. Smart and optimistic people join TD thinking they can make a difference.
Phase 2. But then they see their work isn't valued and any improvements they make quashed by politically connected grifters.
Phase 3. After a few years they leave TD.

Looks like OP is still enjoying phase 1 bliss. Don't get too comfy. Soon you'll be in phase 2.
