Its called a PCSM - basically another promotion for pharmacists - clinical care for a market
What do Opticians know right? maybe that's why we have such a high turnover. SO many Amazing licensed opticians who have master's degrees and higher - It's not a career anymore just a job as there are no advancements.
Pharmacy Market Managers are absolutely worthless. No morals. No contributions to the business. No positive feedback. They're just overpaid corporate goons prostituting themselves and trying to climb the corporate ladder because they don't want to work behind the counter anymore.
Coach for this area? Not enough for a coach to do. That is absurd.
They have been piloting the VCAM program for like 10 years now. I don't think they can determine whether that's the way to go or not. I think they would like to eliminate the VCM role, but there is just too much day to decisions, etc... that have to be made on the spot. Not to mention the fact with the terrible shortage of opticians the VCM is often the role that keeps the damn place open and running.
In licensed states they are already under staffed for licensed optician coverage. Lots of people have jumped ship or been forced off the blank.
With all this AI talk , I wonder if pharmacy will need all the current staffing. I wonder if they could cut 50% of the pharmacist 50-70% of the techs. There is very little behind the counter that can’t be automated.
Pharmacy? Or all of health and wellness? I’ve heard they’re creating a health and wellness coach to oversee OTC and vision, creating Vision area managers, and once the H&W coaches and VCAMs get rolling, they’re going to eliminate the VCM role in the next year or two.
