Four that I know of but a larger "unknown" number working it's way thru the system.

A little over 12 years with great performance ratings. Got asked to join an "urgent" meeting and was told to log off...etc. I barely caught anything he said. His voice was shaky and he spoke so fast. They hired a newbie 2 weeks before this happened which was a surprise because we didn't think we needed another person on the team. This was all planned! I'm 38 and was working remote.
What’s going on with the top heavy staff while folks in the field get treated like slaves?
They will not allow you to have a performance rating of 4 or 5 and generally give everyone 2 or 3 based on your pay grade, it’s not merit based. Multiple teams have been cut and these redeployment meetings have several hundreds of people attending. My guess is they acquire companies and dissolve positions that they view redundant.
This was not a culling of MP 2's at all, not from 60+ the people I've talked to.
My entire team got the axe. During reviews, no one was allowed to be a 4 or higher. We were all threes, across the board.
Several of our team were on PTO. They called them to tell them they were laid off. While that's not illegal in most places in the USA it is globally accepted to not be a good business practice.
Was forced out after just over 7 years. My direct manager was looking to push me out anyways and my yearly review this year reflected it. After receiving multiple 3/4's reviews over the years, suddenly I am a 2?! Not once in the past year has any thing negative been said about my performance, to me and then suddenly review time comes around and it's "your under performing/ not performing to expectations...".
Was told my position is no longer needed yet, just days before it was mentioned how "integral" I was for things to come.
Not too heart broken over it, was looking to leave anyways. The ever lasting anxiety of being over worked, under paid and the seemingly endless revolving door of uncertainty regarding employment made it very difficult to see much of a future there.
Freaking Legend - OP. Never seen such traffic in myUHC too. You’re the real deal !!! ~14k.
Not at all. It was just a standard termination call. They were just cold with it. Part of me wished I could’ve done something different by choosing a different org to join for my R2. Who knows, maybe my outcome would’ve been different if that were to be the case
EEPS hit hard, my entire team was ki-led off.
If you know nothing of UHG, that one thing should tell you what kind of company they are. They call you while you are on vacation to tell you that you are laid off.
Anyone looking to work for UHG, that's the culture.
@Dyfjjethkdiv Not sure why TDP'ers are affected.. Did they ever mention that they were going to place you into a different team or provide any assistance at all?
I was let go yesterday around noon. With a webex invite out of nowhere. The second I joined the call I couldn’t even unmute myself. The director was there to supervise and it was a guy reading off a script and the first thing I heard was terminated.
It really had to be within my R2 rotation as well. It would make sense to at least rescind new tdpers coming in the summer where their career hasn’t started. Rather than to let go of people who’s getting used to the org or who knows what’s going on.
@1ejn+1m0VCcQq - Is Anne Finch still with Optum or did she get cut?
almost everyone i've seen, or talked to personally, has been under Shilts
Could you fill this out?

Dancing Queen org took the biggest hit!
Anne Finch org and I got hit. Over 10 years in the company. Grade level 29. This hits hard. Sandeep is garbage and clearly the BS he's saying to everyone publicly isn't what he's practicing. OT is the only org taking a big hit!
The early retirement thing I’ve seen at UHG is typically offered to those 55+ with at least 10 yrs service. I’d say that’s the most common scenario.
We've had several cuts over the past 5 years under different leadership in OT. I'm thankful some senior people volunteered for early retirement as that probably saved some lower grade jobs. Look around at all the tech layoffs in the news and tell me you are surprised. It's just business, as painful as it is for those of us impacted. I hope you all find a great new home.
Translation: I'm going to mention how there's been tons of cuts over the last five years, then completely contradict my own statement my mentioning the other mass layoffs at FAANG companies - they're doing it, so why is it a surprise that WE are?! In closing, Here's a perfunctory statement at the end to make it seem like the company actually gives a f---; News flash: it doesn't. You are all just fungible assets and we don't care.
Funny thing - UHG/Optum's stock has performed swimmingly over that time, making executives billions in change... If you're going to lie about layoffs, get a lot better at it.
Eerie silence from management tells you a lot about them. Ownership is missing for the actions.
How do you get early retirement package are there any condition based on age/tenure ? I know GM offered to everyone.
I was "affected" this morning, just shy of 9 years at Optum. We all knew this RIF was coming, so I don't know how anyone can be that surprised. This is the reason Dirk went outside the company in hiring Santelli's replacement. Good to see some of the dead weight taking early retirement packages, but I guess it wasn't enough.
Anyone displaced. I was laid off a few years ago and now work at Availity. We are hiring many analysts. Please check us out. We have lots of former optum employees
I was let go after almost 24 years! My MAP review has been a 4 for most of them! I know it is just business but the people that made these decisions have no idea the knowledge they lost and how this will cripple my team.
Sandeep, is that you?

If you got laid off, then please post your department, your age, your salary range (if you feel comfortable posting), years you worked for the company, how many people besides yourself in the group got cut, your rating over the past three years. I think their is a pattern based on what I've read in these posting so far.

Sad to see this happen. I left recently after 15 years of service. The quality of the company took a severe dive after being acquired.
Recently graduated from TDP, laid off from Optum EEPS today. Short call, no time to ask questions. Actually went into the call with a list of questions I had to help me with day to day work I am solely responsible for (laughing at myself there). Had things to address today, was asked to close the laptop instead. Not sure where my team is being allocated if allocated at all. I was somewhat forced out of my last TDP rotation in data analytics and reporting. I worried it was performance based but was ensured they were opening space for AI/ML engineers. Not sure if that’s related with recent release of the internal AI platform. I’ve never received below a 3 in MAP. Little to no constructive criticisms ever. Was feeling somewhat excluded from work items starting this week
I suspect a lot of good people were let go today because they were making the offshore folks look bad.
Welcome to the SH_T show. All only jobs affected are .... Wait for it.... You guessed it.... US BASED. Now the IT people that are left have to pick up the slack.... Oh and I don't mean our PH team offshore. Their turn over is so high they can't get promoted... Literally here and gone in MONTHS. Need that SWEET SWEET PH labor that gets paid $5 a day to do highly technical work. They never get written up for doing stuff wrong or telling people the wrong info.... But if you mess up state side ... WOOOO C.A.P!!!!!!! Sandeep doesn't give to sh_ts about Us state side.
In a few months you will have a sh_t ton reqs for someone in the PH. They will never lay of offshore people no matter HOW MUCH OF A CR-P JOB THEY DO!!!
I really hope no one hurts themselves over this bs.
How sad… many people that invested 10+ years were effected. Not sure how it makes any sense. Most people I know that got impacted had no less than a 4 rating…
How did they choose who got cut?
8 years of blood sweat and tears reduced to a phone call this morning. I'm blown away. So many cr-p employees and it seemed they just drew straws instead.
The stock never changed with the new CEO. Looks like this is he run out of options now
Sandeep may not be super smart, but he is definitely brutal!!!
@axl+1m0VCcQq
They have a severance guide you can search for in Sparq
Any idea what a severance package would look like with 10 years of service?
Current TDPer here. Currently going through the graduation placement process. There seem to be more people set to graduate in my rotation than there are jobs on the board... So I'm thinking they may be planning to layoff anyone who isn't placed by the algorithm.
Here's my biggest concern... If that were to happen, would they be able to qualify that as just "not rehiring" me as opposed to a layoff? Because that could have serious implications on my ability to receive severance pay, cash out my remaining PTO, and apply for unemployment benefits.
Executives need to purchase their new yachts or vacation homes before you're allowed to feed your families.
8 years with no rating below a 4. Matt Shilts org.
Glad to be out of this toxic place.
I just got the call this morning. After seven years of employment. Just like that. I'm out of a job. They did mention that they will help me find a new job within the company. But it honestly sounded like they were going to "keep my resume on file."
I was told that it would be best for me and my team to be re-tooled (learn a new role under the guise of job rotation).
I guess I did not realize that the job rotation would permanently be out the rotating door.
