Thread regarding PayPal layoffs

Never McKinsey

Wherever you move after this, remember that the downfall of PayPal is the result of McKinsey's terrible direction and the ex-Amex executive team's mismanagement. McKinsey has a consistent track record of horrible consultation (cough, Enron). It is a firm filled with golden boys from Ivy league school with no real life experience giving advice to dolts cosplaying as C-suite executives. The combined idiocy between McKinsey and the unqualified staff from Amex that have been sitting in the NY PayPal office is what led this company to the disaster it is now facing. Remember this as you move on and do everything in your power to prevent either of these teams of people from continuing their legacy of destruction.

I don't think PayPal is a sinking boat, but we do have some weak leadership that doesn't provide coherent vision. We'll probably have 2-3 years of some wild churn - including leadership - then be totally fine. There is nothing inherently wrong with our services, though we do need more real innovation (read: stop screwing around with the obvious scam of crypto, dodge all the bs trends out of silicon valley from the tech bros - including "AI") that actually benefits our customers.

Or Dan's replacement will be competent and it'll be faster. None of us can actually predict what's going to happen in the long-run and, if you're convinced you can, you're lying to everyone including yourself.

some1 very high up wouldn’t bother posting here but rather think about his/her best and most lucrative exit strategy from this sinking boat called PayPal

If you're "very high up" you are to blame for everything going wrong. That's the point of your role, considering you otherwise don't do anything at all. Otherwise, you're not "very high up."

Yes everywhere Ive worked whenever Mckinsey has been brought in to consult it means eventual layoffs and the strategy change are a disaster.

The post literally says it is the combination of the two. McKinsey is terrible and so is the PayPal c-suite. Both.
