It is not just engineering they have targeted. They are having all the VPs make lists for phase three layoffs. Sounds like this will dwarf phase one and phase two combined. And yes, they will hire much younger employees to keep staffing expense down. It is how Qualcomm executives operate.
Actually management asked to submit names by end of April, target staff engineers, principal engineers. In other hand they are permit to hire fresh grads from schools. Age discrimination?
