Thread regarding Boeing Co. layoffs

What the heck is wrong with Boeing?

From 1960 to 1995 Boeing heritage managed to design/produce the 727, 747, 737, 757, 767 ,777. In the years since 1995 Boeing has poorly managed 787, messed up 737 update, and now 10 year cycle to update the 777. Too many years of bad management from the top have caused the company to move from an engineer based company to a penny pincher worried about stock prices. Boeing moving their head quarters all over the place does not help. McDonnell Douglas who took over Boeing after the stupid merger in the late 1990's won the internal fight and outsourced too much of the design/build of the 787 lead to a problematic plane. Boeing still has problems 10 years later. I am still amazed that anything out of the SC plant makes it into the air. A complete house cleaning of all Boeing and especially former McDowell Douglas senior management including the CEO is in order and should be done immediately. Let the engineers run the company again. Maybe Boeing might be able to start on a new narrow body plane to replace the 737 and bridge into the 757 market. Airbus is taking Boeing to the cleaners.

Boeing died when MD took over

The 787 was designed by MD
Now redesigning old models 777/737 is like redirecting old movies

Boeing will eventually be split and commercial side will die off leaving only military and space.

If and when a new airplane is to be designed and built, much of the process will be outsourced much like the 787 but to a greater extent. There is no other way as Boeing doesn't have the engineering expertise now let alone in 20 years when this ball gets rolling.

The 737 will be over 70 years old by then and the 777X will still be waiting for certification.

Instead of spending 50 billion on a new aircraft program to replace the 737 McNearney chose to spend it on stock buybacks to inflate the stock price because it was tied to his bonus.

The obvious decision would’ve been to do a single aisle version of the 787 to replace the 737 but McNerney did not want to invest that kind of money into product development.
