Please, people, for the love of everything sacred to you, make preparations for the possibility of being laid off. Look at the writing on the wall. It's not about 'if' we'll have layoffs, it's about 'when' it will happen. Be proactive or you'll end up in an unenviable position when there was no need for it.

They will just keep pay low in stores, force office employees to go to the stores. Forcing them to quit with out laying anyone off.
I agree 110%. And it's not just unique to Kroger. Layoffs are a part of American work life and one is going to be laid off at least 3-4 times in 40 years of work. Only a fool thinks he/she is above being laid off. Be prepared by having at least a 6 month emergency fund, an up to date resume and LinkedIn profile, and a job hunting strategy so you're ready to hit the ground running when the pink slips start flying.
They are laying off in the Roundys division- or firing over small infractions.
