$50K Annually in a Combination of RSUs and Options

I work for a competitor and heard this from a comcast engineer. If true, I'm curious what the breakdown is, 50/50? My company's stock package definitely isn't that good, although the vesting is faster.

Not everyone gets a stock award. It only goes to managers and above. The amount varies based on title. It is 50 RSU/50 Stock Options. RSU vesting is over 5 years but it is not 20% a year. I believe it is 10% a year with 60% vesting in year 5. Your chances of getting laid off before a sizable portion of your RSUs vesting are very high. Also, the options have been worthless for several years with their stock price consistently declining. But overall a great retention mechanism as you'd leave a lot of money on the table if you quit.

ratio depends. people leaders recv 50/50, individual contributors much less on the rau side. I want to say it's 10/90. also, to be eligible for RSUs, you have to make $100k salary. and it's not a set $50k...it varies based in goals and salary as a percentage.

So it's really $50k? Still seems like a lot for an individual contributor. However, there's a big difference if it's 10k rsu and 40k options... I just can't imagine giving someone making 120-160k base a 50k rsu in addition to a bonus. If that's the case, I may need to look for a new job.

And they take 5 years to vest, and every additional year, means you have to wait longer. It's not worth it, and you'll be long gone before you ever cash them in
