Nothing says “everything is fine” like ousting your CEO right after he signed an extension. Chapek knew identity politicking was hurting the company but the board didn’t want to lose that sweet ESG blackrock investment capital, so they got rid of him.
talk about living in a bubble. you do realize that the federal reserve is going to have to raise interest rates to at least 6-7%, right? these layoffs are occurring solely because of underperformance over the last year. just wait until the tide goes out and disney's exposure to market conditions force them to take real action, given that mickey is swimming na--d.
Try getting out of your bubble. Disney is laying off less than 3%. Nothing compared to general industry. The d+ subscriber loss was minimal and arpu went up. Definitely expect to see subscriber growth not be the focus anymore less subscribers but bigger profit/ARPU will be the key
@rmy+1lmsk6fp is that you larry fink?
The layoffs are not “massive”… the subscriber losses are almost entirely because of India and cricket, and the box office has been on par or above Disney’s peers. I know it feels nice to blame “woke” but there is no evidence if that at all.
