300 jobs will be eliminated within the next year. My issue is not with layoffs, this was expected. What I have a problem with is the company deciding to stretch this out over 12 months. That means none of us will know if we're safe until this time next year. That's plain cruel.

The one thing you have is the blessing of time to plan. Use it to think about your next steps as “what ifs.” And, frankly, if your skills are transferable to another industry. Polish up the resume, think about plans A/B/C if you do get laid off, and network now before you need it. Best of luck!
