What is this new staffing strategy that is going to be announced on March 3??

⤵️Hey look (poster below)…they are slowing telling associates as each week progresses instead of making one major store announcement so there won’t be an uproar!! They are trying to make people slowly quit “through attrition” somthey don’t have to pay severance….and so they don’t have to pay insurance if they keep the average hours below the treshold to have Macy’s insurance, plus less PTO next fiscal year…. This is all part of the plan….
Hey look! No big announcement! Good grief....🙄
I'll believe it when I see it.
red badge who departed summer 2022
did any other red badges go through how to shut down union talk amongst associates and how to report it if your hearing it?
reading these posts i wonder if they rolled out that training in anticipation that they were going to do what they are now 10 months later
This country wouldn’t survive without retail workers stocking the shelves they wouldn’t make a dime without you there to process their transaction at the register to take a customers money and line their pockets with the profits . All these online returns aren’t being mailed back these customers take it to a store. see how fast online shopping would nose dive if you took the in store return entwr away.
we need to start taking our power back as an industry.
dept stores, grocery stores, fast food
we are the backbone of this country and should be paid and have benefits as such.
Hate to say this but City, State and congress will never do anything about retail jobs (FT 28-40, PT 12-20, on call) because if retail adds 50k of on call jobs that is the 50k job showing in the report they can use they are doing a great job and need be re-elected the next term. No lobbyists will take on this cause.
They will tell us in our face that “it’s your choice to work in retail. Want a better job? Then find one”
That’s why unionizing is the key. They can’t negotiate their way out of this.
Retailer here, but not Macy’s. Time to lobby all congress men and senators! Retail jobs affect employment rates in their districts! Full time at 28-35 is unacceptable. And yes, for those participating in insurance plan, the new full time convenient to corporate budget will absolutely make one consider if they can afford that “caddilac corporate insurance.” Contact your local representatives, state representative and let them know!!!
Oh great! Less stress, 4 days off a week????? Only stress will be how to put food on the table and pay the bills!
@3pty So if they cut you to under 40 hours a week what are you going to do?
Less stressful, flexible work place, open availability lets you choose up to 4 days off a week!
Remember the ceo said it would be less stressfull workplace? this is why 28-32 hours is full time but you’re only going to get scheduled 28 hrs. The shifts will vary like 9:45a - 3:15p , 12:30p - 4:45p , 2pm - 6pm , 4:30p - 9:15p , 5p - 9:30p
you wont be working long shifts anymore

That would be so great if they consolidated divisions and cut Store Managers of small stores to be absorbed by bigger ones with a Director in it. And RMM jobs are useless. All they do is regurgitate information. The store teams should get information directly from central. Cut the middle person who sits at home and answers emails all day. That’s what I think.
We just have to wait after Friday March 3rd and see what happens. This company is always full of surprises. It's becoming normal for Macy's for constantly changing the culture. It's not the same company anymore just be ready folks.
full time is 40 hours a week. period. any other normal job is 40 hours. retail companies always trys to play games with employees, and convince them that having no hours and low pay is normal.
I'm a full timer and have been cut to 28 hrs and have not lost my Healthcare yet. I can't afford to keep it anymore so its pretty much done. I could go with the cheapest option but why bother.
If they cut full timers to 28 hours every week, they lose their health insurance! Better not be true or there will be an uprising!
I see hear people say "district" all the time though, probably an oldtimer thing.
BS on the poster below. There are no more district merchants and no more districts. The term is divisions.
Any info on ny/ct
District consolidations and store leader consolidations. They are looking to cut big salaries. The small and medium stores will be paired up and have one store leader for two or more stores. District merchants will be drastically cut.
It's not only Macy's other retailers are cutting hours and laying off employees. They are expecting a recession is coming this year so most of them are getting prepare for it.
The reason for cut hours is because of the economy about to crash with housing markets dropping 80 % and used car market bubble going to burst.. Nobody is going to be buying cloths .. so they are treating it like the 2020 pandemic levels.. expect cuts in summer and skeleton crew.
Eventually it was coming soon back to house and front of house merging as one team.
A little birdie says receiving will be able to pick up shifts in a nearby Macy’s. It’s called Mobile Receiving.
BOH to FOH cross training coming soon.
Every year this company comes up with crazy ideas.
So I heard we are over a ton hours. From these comments, I assume Macy’s is trying to cut a ton of hours, everyone is cutting hours? It’s frustrating.
1 full time opener (6.5 hrs) per floor and 1 part timer (3.5 hrs) to close
Full timers scheduled 4-5 days and part timers 3 days
Bare bones skeletal crew
Bare bones minimum.
It sounds to be that the captains and full timers will have to much work load on there hands.
Supposedly going forward with the effective with April schedules the hours are going to be bare minimum…. Full time 28 hours and part time 8 hours….. unless it is the holidays!!
And there will not be any extra shifts available for pickup.
I’m so tired of all the speculation. How much more can they possibly cut or restructure?!
