Do you think he would do things different for Kmart and Sears? Maybe convert some Sears stores to Kmart Essentials instead? Maybe make Kmart Grand instead of Sears Grand? I really think Sears Sucks. Kmart was the stronger of the two. Should have put all his investmints into Kmart!

The original Sears grand had a chance it was the only thing that MAY have changed the course. Instead, they cheapened the concept and it failed (big surprise). Should have converted all Kmart stores into Sears grand and done massive renovations/ demolition, instead of the awful Sears essentials that came out of Kmart.
Butchering the goose that lays the golden eggs isn't a long term strategy. Instead of badly role playing Warren Buffett he should have stuck to being Eddie Lampert 1.0 with his own distinctive style of success collecting reputation and wealth managing other people's money. It wouldn't have hurt to learn a thing or two from Ray Dalio either instead of inadvertently becoming the parallel universe Bizarro version.

Sears had all the capital, ideas. Infrastructure, and knowledge necessary. If the owner CEO states without irony "we have all the customer we could possibly want" there is no way you can succeed.
I think Edward should have bought Target instead of Sears and used his Kmart/Target merger to compete with Kmart Target Austrialia owned by the Westfarmers.
