Google said it is implementing the change based on feedback from employees.

"Since returning to the office, we've run pilots and conducted surveys with Cloud employees to explore different hybrid work models and help shape the best experience," Google said in a statement to CBS MoneyWatch.

It added that Googlers who work for the Cloud division "value guaranteed in-person collaboration when they are in the office, as well as the option to work from home a few days each week."

Google said its new "rotational model" enhances the company's approach to hybrid work, while also allowing it to use its spaces more efficiently.

Thankfully no one has to share undis

My last job was in an "open floor plan" office with shared desks. The idea was that you picked where you would sit each day when you came in. Everyone just pretty much sat in the same seat every day. It was bearable. Nobody had any "office flair" - family pictures or action figures, that sort of thing. Everyone wore ear buds or noise canceling headphones.

In another team they did "pair programming" which meant two people sharing a desk with two keyboards and one big monitor. That struck me as being one of the Circles of He-l.

"Japanese toilets" ? I hear they plan on going further and limiting employees to 3 flushes per day.
