Thread regarding Optum layoffs

Layoffs extended

We are being told to share with people leaders that their layoffs will be on hold, some in March, April, May, June etc. I don’t know the reason, but one can speculate.

I was deployed to another position to OptumServe after giving my loyalty to CHC who after turned into OptumInsight, they are laying off staff with out filing WARN ACT to state regulators, Optum, United say they will place people in other positions opened and in need… guess what that is? Call Centers! They place you in a very hostile position that leads you to quit and once you do that they aren’t responsible for giving you responsible to give you severance. The are outsourcing patients information overseas in HIPPA violations.

I was laid off today.
My manager set up an impromptu teams chat.
He started the meeting out by staying that the company had made some exciting changes that are allowing people to explore other opportunities in the organization.
Then he said unfortunately that meant my position was being eliminated.
What a fu---d up way to inform someone.

I am a 29 and my RRP was funded at 60% - lowest I have ever been funded in 14 years. I hope they did that to layoff less - I'll gladly take one for the team!

Now they are saying no 3/9 CHC layoffs because of $. Don’t know if that means not having cash to payout severance or wanting to push to next quarter. This place is a joke.

My segment in Optum is seeing much more demand than expected 1-2 months ago. It’s flipped the script from cutting costs to needing more hands on deck to complete deliverables.

It’s always hard to compare across the company be a result of re-evaluating what capacity needs there are this year

I'm a contractor and I was moved over to another team. The person training me has in conversation mentioned training another person and another time she mentioned that another team was being trained. The manager of the team I came from now has an extra 20 reports on her organization chart in teams. One of my old team members asked her if she has new reports and her response was "not that I know of ". Those people all show as being in the Philippines. It is super weird.

My bonus was significantly under funded. Heard 29s and up affected. Perhaps they are looking to save funds with this cut in pay out

I can speak for Optum Clinical Services. I was told no more lay offs as long as lower performing employees are managed out. This company does not value longevity, relationships, dedication, or loyalty.

OP, thank you for having the conscience and kindness to share this with us. It has an incredibly stressful time for so many of us.

May I ask for clarification on what you mean by “extended” and “on hold”? The CHC layoff site suggests a big RIF there on 3/9 and in April. Is there any truth to that and is that planned for optum too? Are they now shifting to laying off in smaller groups spread out over more months?

I work with multiple segments. This change impacts each in a different way. I wouldn’t be posting these things but I am disappointed with how the organization is handling an already very difficult situation.
