Thread regarding Dell Inc. layoffs

Labor Board Ruling negates Dell's outrageous severance agreement. Whoopsie.

C-Suite must be crapping their collective diapers over the new labor relations ruling that voids much of the severance agreement. Popcorn anyone?

"Today’s decision, in contrast, explains that simply offering employees a severance agreement that requires them to broadly give up their rights under Section 7 of the Act violates Section 8(a)(1) of the Act. The Board observed that the employer’s offer is itself an attempt to deter employees from exercising their statutory rights, at a time when employees may feel they must give up their rights in order to get the benefits provided in the agreement."

I doubt any C level is crapping themselves. The worst that can happen is they have to leave with a sufficiently high paid farewell.... and they might loose at couple of hundred thousand in terms of share value

Package is not a requirement - could just let go and give vacation balance

Corporations do not care
Management does care about their bonus
More layoffs as needed to meet bonus

This will lead to minimal or no severance pay at all for future layoffs.
