I've seen directors, managers, engineers with high ratings and those who've been at Micron for decades get laid off in the recent layoffs in Idaho. Many of my peers and myself have been thinking of leaving once the market gets better since there's clearly no way to build a future here in Idaho if this is how layoffs are done. There's no other company here to join

Samsung also laid off engineers now. Profits hit. Though quantum of layoffs may be different.
Welcome to Samsung. All are welcome.
Yup this layoff is different. Last few layoffs were more of a purge of 1 and 2 ratings.
Micron existed for 40 years, but in 2008 bought companies from all around the world. That's why you see so many europeans in Boise. ST microelectronics existed and was a leader in this market for years... to basically disappear in 5 years. When it did not invest and expand.
This time is Micron trying to survive. While competitors are doing better and not laying off people.
We basically sent good engineers in R&D to our competitors for free. Paying also the vacation while they are looking for jobs...
And giving to the other, often less experienced engineers most of their work.
A lot of senior/principal engineers were walked off. How many minutes you think Samsung, Hynex, Lam and Amat will take to call and hire them?
Who will be better? Them or Micron?

People who wait for better market conditions will never leave.
It is purely a question if an individual has a better external offer or doesn’t.
“ You can check out any time you like
But you can never leave”
I honestly believe some folks are blowing this out of proportion. Micron has existed well over 40 years and some of y'all are acting like this is the first time they have laid off employees. If ya get bucked off, you gotta get back on yer feet and keep moving forward. No industry is immune from layoffs, especially in the tech sector.
A talent what?
