Timing is everything.

  1. C. started right at the beginning of the pandemic and the company basically became an order taker as many folks were grounded without ability to travel. Right time to look like an amazing HERO who could do no wrong. In fact, one of his goals BACK THEN was to get FTD back to trading publicly in a couple years.

My thought was to wait & see what a ‘wunderkind’ he really is when there’s real challenges with supply chain issues, declining orders, flower grower concerns, container acquisitions, etc.

Can’t just keep laying regular employees off to offset the deficit in sales numbers.

So - the rumor is C.C’s left by his own decision (hmm, is that hoe a no contract renewal is defined?) but the business model says something else - the truth is never overtly announced that they are giving the walking papers to a no longer performing exec. It’s a brother’s code to protect the reputation of a highly decorated exec - just like the military.

Present day business model sans C.C. will be met with even more hard core metrics & employee slashing with newly installed CEO - the investor wants out !!! SELL SELL SELL FTD!!! Get rid of redundancy before it merges with Teleflora or 1-800.

Another issue is this:
Since top execs really don’t know how to create anything NEW to stimulate sales, expect more layoffs to offset sales decline.

Time to get our life jackets on!!

My wife was affected by these layoffs. I know to most people on this site it’s just numbers, but she’s a real person with chronic illness who just lost her health insurance. She was hired less than a year ago and left a steady job for what she was told (lied to) was a good opportunity. F this company and a “f you” to the CEO too.

CEO didn't bring in PS - the PE firm did. You don't bring in someone over yourself. CEO is just trying to save face by pretending it was his idea to leave as opposed to mismanaging the company and getting fired.

Old CEO leaves 03/01 supposedly it was his idea to resign once he brought in PS. PC, the COO also leaves 3/1 (probably because they are going more with local florists and less with ups shipped flowers in a box as that is not very economical). But the layoffs are just a natural rxn of any responsible company to a softening economy,

Most of ftd.com customer service got laid off including the senior manager my boss's boss and all three assistant coaching managers. Also workload forecasting specialist who informs what schedules are needed and the call center trainer and the only professional call ctr qa monitor. The Training coaching and monitoring work will fall to the 3 managers who already have to deal with Frontline supervisory work. Now that t hey got rid of asst Managers and qa training.

The PE firm that owns FTD is apparently making changes after Valentines Day 2023. The new kids on the block that they brought as executives in in 2020 are out. A new CEO has been appointed and is bringing in his/her own people. The new CEO is also a former executive of teleflora so its possible FTD will be sold off soon. Maybe to Teleflora. Who knows? Only the PE firm owners do. Anyone at FTD get out now or wait for your pink slip.
