Seems like there is a lot of engineers being let go.

It would be interesting to see the breakdown on who was cut. The names that I have heard have been for workers with 20+ years of service and a number of people with high healthcare insurance claims. I can't imagine that they didn't do a disparate impact study, but I do wonder.
My perception has always been that far too many engineering positions have been occupied by people with zero technical ability because as a previous poster pointed out promotions have historically not been based on accomplishments but rather loyalty, friendship, quid pro quo, etc. Same can be said of managers and directors. If AI is making the cut decisions, that may explain why those with good reviews are being let go. I would say "its about time"

Lots of Managers reporting to Managers,
Sr. Managers reporting to Sr. Managers and
Directors reporting to Directors.
This is the strategy to get promoted from one level to another level while moving up their down levels. Promotions are not based on accomplishments and deserved candidates. This is the system going on there and finally Engineers and below were targeted.
Everything there's no method to the madness
