Not so suddle was the training at the HO over termination pay. It popped up for my entire team as required training last week. Now there are news articles about looming massive HO layoffs. All this while upper management is getting giddy over year end financials.

I got around to doing this one and it's really just all the special rules that some states have that require you to suck up to a fired associate and pay them immediately (and in some cases beg them to take their money if they don't show up). Really not necessary for HO associates.
Oh, that’s convenient, huh? Sounds like more BS to me.
Laughable indeed. Coming from the team that refused to take the training and HR just happened to randomly show up at an offsite planning meeting ant told us to disregard the mandatory training and that it was sent out in error. Bunch of Phonies!! We called them out and they caved.
So funny. And by the way, teams can’t vote or decide not to take any company designated training. It’s laughable to even think it, much less say it. I agree, there’s Serious deficiencies and mistakes in the education/training area and I wouldn’t be surprised to find out it’s somehow an error, but, if it’s not an error, there’s managers and directors that will be measured for compliance. And, failure to complete assigned training is basically insubordination which is……. You guessed it, something you can be fired for, with no severance.
This is the company trying to say that they complied with the WARN Act by notifying associates 60 days in advance of a layoff. If you take the mandatory training you have fallen right into their trap. DON’T DO THE MANDATORY TRAINING. They can’t force you to or fire you if you refuse. If you don’t take the training then you have not been notified of a layoff. And whoever came up with this is stupid. It will not hold up in court as notification.
Our team has decided NOT to take the mandatory Associate termination training and see what happens. You can’t force training on someone that has nothing to do with their essential job function. If you don’t hire or terminate associates you can’t be forced to take the training or being held accountable for refusing to do so. This leadership team needs a few good old class action law suits to snap them into shape!
I’m just gonna sit back and watch you all spin yourselves up.
Hold on misinformation czar. Are you pulling this out of your credibility because you have none. Doug said , like Doug's words are written in stone. Doug said this, Doug said that, if he said at all. How about Doug said he had to make the hard decision and to layoff thousands of associates due to AI being the best course for Walmart. Minister of walmart truth if there is a conflict with China don't forget to short walmart stock. There is more truth in that than in Doug.
The news article from the KC news paper was from back in August, just ahead of layoffs.
Doug has said that through automation (think AI, as someone brought up) he wants to be able to have individuals "buying" for 80 merchandise categories. As much as they are testing robotics an automation for DCs and stores, they are going leverage AI for almost everything in merchandising at the HO. It will happen sooner than we would like to admit.
The misinformation czar or walmart's minister of truth counters an open free thought forum. Like walmart isn't capable of moving on with their woke WEF agenda. Long live equity, inclusion ect ect ect. All store closings and layoffs begin at the corporate level with the help of their major investment in AI.
Some commentators have less credibility than Al Gore.
i think that walmart will be letting more people go. it is sad.
Could this training also serve as WM's 6 week advance notice to associates prior to layoff?
NDTV? You gotta be kidding me. Why would anyone quote anything from them? Garbage
If you’re reading and believing any of this, you’re a su---r.
Will be in stores , sam's new clubs, DC, and bentonville. Plan accordingly.

That’s an old article.
Ok it seemed like OP was referencing news articles talking about coming layoffs. Only one i can see is from a paper in KC that says hundreds planned for next week, but not sure when this is from.

Because there are none. The financial report was generally considered good. Stock is up and the market is way down right now.
Can someone link to the news articles about impending layoffs? I am not seeing anything.
That training got some nervous laughter from my team. We'll see what the earnings release has for us this morning. My bet is the eventual outcome will be in March we get an announcement that includes something like this, "strategic and difficult changes are needed to continue to place the company in the best position for success in an ever changing retail environment." As people are laid-off.
Suddle? Probably should have finished 6th grade before you post. All these posts most likely done by the same fifth grader.
All store closings and layoffs begin at the maximum of incompetence at the elite level of present corporate culture. Its not conditions have brought walmart here but aloft corporate disconnect from responsibility and accountability. Bentonville renamed Spin City. Walmart not to be undone will follow the leadership of BB&B.
Well leadership lies to your face and swears to it so don’t trust anyone. They are covering their own as--s.
Same thing on my team and we had new ways of working meeting last week and everything will move to new ways of working by March. Not sure of what is coming but leadership is saying no big changes or restructure will happen.
