Thread regarding VMware layoffs

Most people are simply in a holding pattern waiting for a shoe to drop (so to speak.)

There is some talk about the uncertainty, but folks seem to accept it as just being what it is.

Everybody is responsible for their own future and I don’t understand how you are still there after six years if it really is as bad as you describe. Is it because you get paid over market and know your have to cut down on your lifestyle ? You like pain ? Lazy ? What is it.

Like all these id--ts working for partners, doing some random PSO work badly and put VMware as employee on their LinkedIn profile.

Nothing I read here tracks with my experience working for the company,

private discussions with coworkers, internal announcements, or facts I’ve verified internally. Nearly everything here is a massive exaggeration of tiny events. Retaining a kernel of truth is the best way to lie, after all.

Not exactly sure what you have are experiencing at VMware or maybe perhaps you work for some other company and think you work at VMware... but in the past 6 years that I have been here I have witnessed mismanagement and absolute chaos. I have first hand been subjected to racism, bullying and just about all kinds of wrongful content that an employee should not be subjected to and no, I am not a female or a minority. The management has demonstrated many times already that they are not fit to run this company or stand between MD and his quest for building his wealth and empire at the cost of tens of thousands of employees losing their work, sanity and/or dignity. It is very clear that we (the employees) are seen as subjects and cattle whose lives are unimportant to those in the upper management. We advertise ourselves as a "people first" solution company but in practice are a profit first sales organization. For as long as I have been here I have watched sales team use and abuse the resources of the technical team and over promise and lie to customers. I have watched and have been a subject of abuse from the Core team due to ego and dogmatic believes that "Core is King". The concept of Team work does not exist in this company any more, everyone is for themselves. It is sad but it wasn't always this way and it most certainly does not need to be this way but it is too late and the ship is sinking. VMware is legacy technology because our way to solving problems is legacy. There are still some intelligent and decent people left here but we also have people who should have never found their way into the company that are making it difficult for others. How were these people hired and why we love hiring people who have worked for our competitors instead of vetting their applications and doing some checks (like many other technology companies do) before offering them a position is beyond me... but back to the point, there is no Exaggeration in what people report here on VMWare, if anything it is a small fraction of the reality of everyday toxic life at VMWare.

I find that everything I have read here is consistent with my experience working for the company, private discussions with coworkers, internal announcements, and facts I have verified internally. The events discussed are significant and accurately portrayed, and I have not encountered any instances of massive exaggeration or FUD. Retaining a kernel of truth is the best way to convey important information, after all.

Have you spoke to everyone across all divisions?

I can tell you for sure there are crazy levels of dysfunctionality in my corner of the VMware universe.
