When Microsoft erased 10,000 jobs in January, it offered “above market” severance pay and stock options, plus six months of health care and career transition help.
In New Jersey, Bed Bath & Beyond recently closed shop and gave bupkis, so now most of its 1,300 workers are scrambling for a paycheck because there was no safety net. Perhaps you should remember that, next time you’re shopping for a shower curtain.
